What was the cause of Kane’s death?
According to a statement issued by the country’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Tanaka was 119 at the time she died. The Ministry stated that she was born on January 2, 1903, and she died on April 19, 2022.
Earlier this month, Tanaka’s family said in a tweet that she had been frequently sick and “in and out of the hospital.” In the past, Kane has fought cancer twice and she managed to live through many historical events like two world wars and the 1918 Spanish flu as well as the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kane tied the knot with a rice shop owner named Hideo Tanaka at the young age of 19 and she continued to work in the family store until she was 103. The couple welcomed four kids two sons and two daughters. Later on, they also adopted their niece, the second daughter of Hideo’s sister.
What did Guinness World Records have to say about the passing away of Kane?
Guinness World Records also expressed their sorrow and grief over the passing away of Kane Tanaka and said that the news of Kane’s death had been confirmed by senior gerontology consultant Robert Young. He is the same person who affirmed her record as the oldest person alive back in 2019.
In a tweet, the Guinness World Records said, “She became the oldest living person in January 2019 at the age of 116 years and 28 days. She is also the second oldest person ever recorded, behind only Jeanne Calment who lived to the age of 122.”
Guinness World Records issued a statement about Kane’s passing away that read, “We’re sad to report that Kane Tanaka has passed away at the age of 119. Kane was the oldest living person in the world.”
