As per the obituary, Sexton was battling Lewy Body Dementia for a long time. “Roger was an amazing provider to his family, cherishing his role as a father to his daughters, Heather and Amy,” the family said.

“Confidence, discipline, and determination to succeed were all vital components to Roger’s character, which assisted him in being cast on Season 6 of Survivor in 2002. However, the other more challenging aspects of his character eventually prevailed, leading to his eventual demise, but provided lasting memories of the exacerbating force that was Roger.”

“Unfortunately, Roger lost his sweet daughter, Heather, at the young age of 16 due to viral pneumonia on October 22, 1992, a loss still felt by all who knew her. However, the love Roger felt for Heather carried over to the love he felt for his grandchildren,” they added.

Sexton appeared on Survivor: The Amazon in 2003 and lasted 21 days in the jungle. He joined the Tambaqui tribe and was shortly chosen as the leader of his team. He was also remembered for the friction he had with other participants.

He also had a degree in Construction Management and built a successful career for himself, eventually becoming the Vice President for Tutor Perini Construction, one of the largest contractors in the country. Roger is survived by his wife Diane, daughter Amy, his grandchildren, and two sisters.
