Tom Sizemore has passed away at 61

Hollywood actor Tom Sizemore is no longer with us. The star known for his work in movies such as Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawn Down has died. His manager Charles Lago stated that Tom passed away at the age of 61 on Friday.

For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, Tom was hospitalised on February 18 after suffering a brain aneurysm and he was in a critical condition. According to a statement issued by his manager Charles, Sizemore died in his sleep at a hospital in Burbank, California on March 3, 2023.

In a statement issued, Tom’s manager Charles said, “It is with great sadness and sorrow I have to announce that actor Thomas Edward Sizemore (“Tom Sizemore”) aged 61 passed away peacefully in his sleep today at St Joseph’s Hospital Burbank. His brother Paul and twin boys Jayden and Jagger, 17, were at his side.”

Lago went on to say, “I am very saddened by the loss of not only a client but a great friend and mentor of almost 15 years. Tom was one of the most sincere, kind and generous human beings I have had the pleasure of knowing. His courage and determination through adversity was always an inspiration to me. The past couple of years were great for him and he was getting his life back to a great place. He loved his sons and his family. I will miss my friend.”

Throughout the course of his acting career, Tom starred in several films like Saving Private Ryan, Heat, Natural Born Killers, Enemy of the State, and Bringing Out The Dead.

Tom’s brother Paul Sizemore paid a heartfelt tribute to the Hollywood actor

On the other hand, Tom’s younger brother Paul Sizemore also mourned the loss of his brother. In a statement issued, he said, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of my big brother Tom.”

Paul further added, “He was larger than life. He has influenced my life more than anyone I know. He was talented, loving, giving and could keep you entertained endlessly with his wit and storytelling ability. I am devastated he is gone and will miss him always.”

Tom Sizemore fell in love with movies as a kid

Yeah, you read that right. From a young age, Tom was inclined towards the world of acting. He fell in love with movies as a kid when his mother, a movie buff, started taking him and his siblings to the triple feature the local theatre showed on Saturdays. He was blown away when he first watched The Wizard of Oz on a TV channel for classic movies.

During a May 2022 interview with Decider, Tom said, “When we saw a movie called Beckett, with Peter O’Toole and Richard Burton, I guess I was probably 11 or 12, and … I didn’t understand the movie so much as I got that the relationship between Burton and O’Toole was special, and I got into the drama of that.”

At that point, the Black Hawk Down star went on to say, “And then a few years later, when I was 14, I saw Taxi Driver. And that was the first time I remember wanting to know who the actor was, who the person was playing this part. I was so taken with the Travis Bickle character (played by Robert De Niro) that I wanted to know, ‘Who’s the guy doing this?'”

He continued, “And I got obsessed with it. I saw that movie every week for, like, two months when it was playing in the theater. I saw it 11 weeks in a row. That’s when I first started thinking, ‘Whatever that is they’re doing up there, I want to be part of it. I want to do that.’ And I started to figure out how to become an actor, and I started doing some investigating, and my mother helped me.”

Tom Sizemore’s acting career was hugely affected by his drug addiction

Tom’s acting career was largely derailed by personal upheavals stemming from his acknowledged long-time bouts with substance abuse, which kept him in and out of jail as well as drug rehabilitation treatment. At one point, he had a relationship with one-time Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss.

In the year 2005, Sizemore was convicted of domestic violence against Heidi during their stormy yearlong romance. As a result, he was sentenced to six months in prison. Fleiss, who had served time in jail for running a 1990s call-girl ring for Hollywood’s rich and famous, testified that Sizemore stubbed a cigarette out on her and once knocked her to the ground outside his home.
At that time, the actor denied the charges pressed against him but he did not testify at his trial. In a letter to the judge, he had “permitted my personal demons to take over my life.” Then, he also wrote that he was “convinced that if I had not been under the influence of drugs, I would have controlled by behavior.”

In 2005, Sizemore was jailed for violating the terms of his probation from domestic abuse and meth convictions by failing the drug urine test. His probation was reinstated after he entered a psychiatric hospital for treatment of chronic depression and drug dependency that a doctor stated the actor had fought for years.

Our love and prayers are with the close friends and family members of the Hollywood actor Tom Sizemore during this tough time. May his soul rest in peace. Don’t forget to stay tuned with us for the latest updates from the world of showbiz.
