What was the cause of Régine’s death?

As per the reports of Deadline, the singer’s granddaughter stated that she passed away on Sunday. The cause of Régine’s death was not disclosed by her. The nightlife entrepreneur was well known for her contribution to French songwriting.

A statement was issued on the behalf of Régine’s family, her friend, comic Pierre Palmade, said: “The queen of the night has left. Closing time following a long and great career.” He further added, that Régine “had the stars of the whole world dancing in her nightclubs.”

A little bit about the ‘queen of the night’s personal life

Régine Zylberberg was born on December 26, 1929 in Etterbeek, Belgium. She was popularly known as Régine. She was a French singer and nightclub impresario by profession.

 The My Yiddishe Momme singer spent most of her early life hiding away from the Nazis in occupied wartime France. Following the war, she became a torch singer and by 1953 she was a nightclub manager in Paris. She invented the modern disco.

Régine tied the knot with Leon Rothcage in the year 1947. The couple shares one child, a son named Lionel Rotcage. A few years later, the duo decided to go their separate ways. Maybe, they were not each other’s soulmates.

The nightlife impresario opened her first nightclub titled Chez Régine in the Latin quarter of Paris in 1957. Soon afterward, the club became the go-to spot for celebs to chill and relax. She introduced the concepts of turntables and disc jockeys instead of the usual jukeboxes.
