American rapper Coi Leray is calling out her dad Benzino as he threatens the singer as well as her mom. The 24-year-old just dropped her debut album “Trendsetter” today and she should be happy but she is stuck in the drama caused by her father.
What did Coi write on Twitter?
Coi tweeted, “My dad is texting my mom threatening her and me because I said he went broke on the breakfast club on the day of my album release. I hate to bring this shit to social media but my father need help. Sorry if I offended you on breakfast club but don’t treatment me or my mom because you hate to admit that we went broke after the source.”
The New Jersey native further added, “Build a fucking bridge and get over it that’s why I don’t even like mentioning his name. That’s why I never mentioned his name coming into this industry cause he can’t get over his past and don’t even realize how much he damaging when he does this stuff.”
Overthinking singer spilled the beans on how her dad is trying to spoil things for her at the moment. She told him to grow up and stop bickering with her and her mom.
Leray didn’t stop here, she continued, “The devil is working!!!! THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE when everything is going soo good, here he comes being weird trying to fuck up somebody’s life. Leray concluded the series of tweets by saying, “I’m your only fucking daughter. You worried about being called broke on the day of my debut album. You ain’t even text me congratulations, you so bitter and evil. Ima pray for you.”
How is Coi’s relationship with her dad been?
During an interview with The Breakfast Club, the rapper talked about her bond with her dad Benzino. She stated that her relationship with her dad has never been solid. Coi also reported that her dad’s relations with the rap industry has also never been positive and that is one of the main reasons why she doesn’t like to bring up his name in conversations.
Coi spoke up about how she was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth. When we talk about the financial aspect of her family like any other family they went through their ups and downs. She stated that her dad struggled financially after leaving The Source and the magazine’s bankruptcy.
Leray said, “That’s the problem everybody think it was a silver spoon situation. My dad lost The Source when I was like 9 [years old], bruh. Once it was gone I was old enough to understand life. And it was gone after that. Reality hit. We were broke, we’re figuring things out, ya feel me?”

The rapper further added, “The problem with this social generation is they have no respect or regard for who came before then and how they laid the blueprint for them to be successful. I always revered those who came before me and I am grateful to the legends of Hip Hop.”

The 56-year-old continued, “I’m tired this “old talk” Hip hop is over 40 years young and the ones who appeal to older and younger will be the most successful. Anyone who thinks that because you’re in you’re 40’s and 50’s you should just go sit in a rocking chair and still don’t live out and…pursue their dreams and aspirations and idiots. When did Coi come into the limelight?
Coi Leray Collins was born on May 11, 1997, in Boston, Massachusetts, and brought up in Hackensack, New Jersey. She began making music at the young age of 14. After a while, she dropped out of school and started working in sales.
Leray started posting her music on a platform called Soundcloud. Her breakout single Huddy caught the attention of the viewers as well as the critics. She released her debut mixtape Everythingcoz in the year 2018.
The rapper has worked hard and she has managed to carve a place for herself in the music industry. She signed up a record deal with 1801 Records and Republic Records just after the release of her second mixtape EC2, in 2019.
In March 2022, Leray dropped a collaboration with one of the greatest rappers of all time, queen Nicki Minaj. They worked together on a song titled Blick Blick. The song was co-written and produced by Dr. Luke. The song became a smashing hit and reached spot 37 on the Billboard Hot 100.
