Music executive Chaka Zulu was shot in Atlanta’s Buckhead neighbourhood on Sunday night. Zulu was the longtime manager of Atlanta rapper Ludacris.
The rapper was among several casualties of the shooting outside the restaurant. Sadly, one of the men did not survive. In addition to being a co-CEO of Disturbing Tha Peace Records, Chaka Zulu has also worked for a media company.
Parking Lot Was The Scene Of The Shooting
The shooting occurred in the parking lot of a Peachtree Hills shopping centre with the restaurant and bar Apt4b, though it’s unclear whether it had anything to do with the restaurant.
One person was killed, and two were injured in the triple shooting. Chaka Zulu was injured in the shooting around 11:35 p.m., according to the Atlanta Police Department.
Reports say Zulu’s condition is critical, but he is out of danger. A characterization appears to be confirmed by prior Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. He told WSB-TV’s Michael Seiden,” We are fortunate to report that Chaka Zulu is in stable condition and recovering. The family thanks everyone for their good wishes and prayers and asks for their privacy now.”
As Of Yet, No Arrests Have Been Made
No suspect is in police custody. In the shopping centre parking lot, the victims were shot after an apparent argument or altercation. Currently, the gunman is on the loose. Police are hoping to recognize the shooter based on surveillance video footage of the scene. No names have been released for the other two victims.
Zulu’s condition has not been made public yet, but thousands of fans and hip-hop artists have expressed their prayers on social media. Bow Wow, who is actually Shad Moss, the rapper from Atlanta, wrote a prayer for Zulu’s speedy recovery. A police spokesman said, ‘At this time, this investigation remains active and ongoing.’
Hawks Honour Zulu With “Forever 404 Honors”
The N.B.A.’s Atlanta Hawks honoured Zulu earlier this year with “Forever 404 Honors”. The ‘Forever 404 Honors presented by Sharecare’ go to him as the ninth recipient.
At the time, he said, “It’s an honour to serve and be appreciated by Atlanta, which has given me so much.” He added, “With such a rich history of men and women who have been celebrated and truly embody the spirit of the community is more important than the individual. My family and I Thank You for this honour!”
Chika Zulu’s love of music was evident from primary age. Having started his career as a background dancer as well as D.J., he went on to work at the hip-hop station Hot 107.9 as a music director and manager of hip-hop artist Ludacris. Disturbing Tha Peace Records, the label, and Ebony Son Management were initiated by him. There represented a number of famous artists such as Ludacris, Chingy, Bobby Valentino, Young Jeezy, Swizz Beatz, Big K.R.I.T., Childish Major, etc.
There have been thousands of prayers on social media from fans and hip-hop artists. Bow Wow in Atlanta, who is Shad Moss, posted a message about praying for Zulu’s quick recovery.
