Yo Gotti’s Attorney Releases Statement
Neither the 41-year-old rapper nor any of his family members were present at the restaurant when the shooting took place. Yo Gotti’s attorney, Arthur Horne, has now issued a statement to the local media, revealing that the gunfire erupted outside the restaurant when they were closing up.
“On behalf of Prive, they’ve been in business for 10 years, and nothing like this has ever happened at their establishment. It happened out in the parking lot, and it ended up in a shootout. Nothing happened inside the restaurant. Despite any conflicting reports, they were closing, and this happened at the end of the evening in the parking lot,” Horne stated.
The Police Earlier Thwarted a Shooting at the Rapper’s Concert in July 2022
The news comes just eight months after the Memphis Police thwarted a shooting at the Rake It Up rapper’s eighth annual Birthday Bash concert in July last year. At the time, a man had threatened to open fire on people and kill himself at the concert venue after his girlfriend broke up with him.
The suspect was then detained. “Officers responded to an armed mental consumer call in the 200 Block of South Main Street. Upon arriving on the scene, officers were met by the suspect, Elijah Hyman, and his girlfriend. Hyman appeared distraught due to a breakup between him and his girlfriend,” the police stated at the time.
“Officers were advised that since Hyman and his girlfriend’s relationship was coming to an end, he wanted to kill himself and everyone he saw coming from an event being held at the FedEx Forum. Hyman was detained, placed in cuffs, and taken for medical treatment and evaluation,” they added.
