Sharon Stone revealed that she suffered nine miscarriages. It was earlier this week when the actress commented on an Instagram post by PEOPLE which featured an exclusive interview with Peta Murgatroyd, who opened up recently about her miscarriage while her husband was in Ukraine.
PEOPLE’s Post on Miscarriage
The post featuring Peta Murgatroyd motivated Sharon to open up about her difficulties with pregnancy. The caption of the post read “After years of trying to grow their family, Peta Murgatroyd is opening up about suffering a miscarriage while Maks Chmerkovskiy was in Ukraine. “To not be there [with her]… it’s crazy. It makes you feel helpless,” Chmerkovskiy tells PEOPLE.”
As perfectly stated in that post “Unfortunately, the heartbreaking feelings of loss were all too familiar” even for Sharon Stone.
Peta shared that “I was completely embarrassed, ultimately ashamed. I didn’t even know how to utter the words and have that sentence come out of my mouth: I had a miscarriage,” says Murgatroyd about suffering her first miscarriage. “I’m somebody who prides herself on health and wellness. I exercise every single day. But as I came to realize, that doesn’t really go hand-in-hand with the reproductive system.”
Sharon Stone’s Feeling of Loss
Peta’s opening up was a way through which Sharon expressed how-
“We, as females don’t have a forum to discuss the profundity of this loss. I lost nine children by miscarriage. It is no small thing, physically nor emotionally yet we are made to feel it is something to bear alone and secretly with some kind of sense of failure. Instead of receiving the much-needed compassion and empathy and healing which we so need. Female health and wellness left to the care of the male ideology have become lax at best, ignorant in fact, and violently oppressive in the effort.”
Sharon previously expressed about her miscarriages which resulted from endometriosis and autoimmune disease and Peta coming out enabled Sharon to speak about her loss of 9 children.
The Emmy winner, Sharon shared in her March 2021 memoir, “The Beauty of Living Twice.” that the journey of several pregnancy losses was “devastating” for her.
Stone wrote, “When I lost my last baby, I went through 36 hours of labour without giving birth. The nurses even stayed on their day off with me. Without her, I would have been alone.”
Sharon and Her Motherhood
After the loss of nine children, Sharon is now a mother of three sons. Stone previously wrote that she appreciates her “global sisterhood” which enabled her to get through the difficult phase and provide her with the relief over the ability to “speak openly” about infertility.
Sharon even encouraged the troubled mothers to try adoption by herself adopting her eldest child Roan who is now 22 years old, with Phil Bronstein, her then-husband.
Sharon further adopted Laird who is now 16 years old and Quinn who is 16 now in the year 2005 and 2006.
Hence all we need now is a community which supports women through the issues they face and provide them with the strength to overcome the grief and provide them with the available options.
