Shazam! star Zachary Levi has ignited anti-vax rumors on Twitter. When posed by a question by Lyndon Wood on Twitter: “Do you agree or not, that Pfizer is a real danger to the world?” ZL’s quickly responded, “Hardcore agree!” Not only this, but he also tweeted a link to a 2009 statement from the Department of Justice announcing that Pfizer paid $2.3 Billion in a settlement for “fraudulent marketing over misbranding an inflammatory drug”.
While there’s not much context behind his statement, such a tweet seems to be rather ballsy given that the actor is set to promote his upcoming movie, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”, which releases on March, 17. Twitter soon began to buzz as people started taking an anti-vax stance. Some even pulled out his old clips, including an interview with Joe Rogan wherein they talked about Jordan Peterson and Elliot Page.

Zachary’s statement about Pfizer not only comes as a PR nightmare, but also into a massive Twitter meltdown, and people started labelling him as a right-winger. One wrote, ‘For your own sake, please call @MarkRuffalo and beg him to help you understand how celebrities can be outspoken critics of corporate America, Big Pharma, and even Pfizer specifically without playing into anti-vax propaganda.”
Some even cancelled him for spreading anti-vax propaganda. One wrote, “Okay, one less movie ticket to spend money on.” Another wrote, “Okay, one less movie ticket to spend money on. “Somehow you’ll be in more trouble for this than Ezra Miller will be for anything he’s done,” referring to WBD’s another controversial figure.
Some people even drew comparisons between Zachary and Letitia Wright due to the timing of his tweet. She who faced controversy for her views on the Covid-19 vaccine just before the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Zachary is set to return to Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which continues to the story of Billy Batson and the Shazam! family. A new trailer for the much-awaited movie was recently released.
That being said, I think Zachary is the least controversial actor, especially if we compare him to Ezra Miller, who is facing charges of choking a woman, grooming children, and illegally housing children and a woman on an unlicensed cannabis farm. Well, he ain’t fired yet so we think Zachary is safe.
