The Last Portrait Of The Queen Is Released To The Public

As the world mourns the loss of Queen Elizabeth, Buckingham Palace released a new and final portrait of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The photograph was clicked by Ranald Mackechnie. The queen can be seen wearing her known triple-piece necklace along with matching earrings. This one has remained to be her favorite over the decades.

The pearls were complimented with a powder blue outfit. Her look in the photograph suggests that the picture was taken on the occasion that marked her speech on the 75th anniversary of VE Day in 2020.

The Last Portrait

The late queen completed her look with twin aquamarine clip brooches. She has worn them on multiple occasions. It was a gift from King George VI and Queen Elizabeth on her 18th birthday in 1944.

The last and final portrait was released to the public through social media along with a statement. The statement read “The photo was taken to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee – the first British Monarch to reach this milestone. Tomorrow, millions will come together to commemorate her remarkable life.”

Senior members of the royal family rushed to Balmoral after the doctors that attended to the Queen became concerned and placed her under supervision. All of her children immediately traveled to Balmoral as well.

Her grandchildren Prince Willian and Harry also made their way to her, but Harry could not reach there in time.

Longest Serving Monarch

The queen was the longest-serving monarch in UK’s history. She died at Balmoral at the age of 96. The queen reigned for over 70 years. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday afternoon while she was at her Scottish estate. She used to spend her summers there.

Her son, King Charles III said that the passing of her mother was a “moment of great sadness” for the family and that the loss would be “deeply felt” all over the world. During the mourning, he said that the family would be “comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which the Queen was so widely held”.

The queen’s coffin has been in Westminster Hall where people joined the mile-long queue to pay their last respects. Some of the famous faces in the crowd included Bear Grylls and David Beckham who apparently stood for 12 hours in the queue.

Sir John Elton paid a tribute to the queen on stage with a rendition of Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me as pictures of her Majesty showed up on the screen while Harry Styles held a minute’s silence in her honor.

The Queen’s Funeral

The queen’s funeral will be attended by dignitaries and world leaders. It is estimated that over 2,000 people will be present at the Westminster Abbey to honor the late queen.

Prime Minister Liz Truss said that the monarch was the rock on which Britain was built, she added that the late monarch “provided us with stability and strength that we need.”

After her passing, her oldest son King Charles III has been made the new monarch of the UK along with his wife Camilla, who is now the queen.
