The 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) raised its curtains today, Saturday on November 20 in Goa. It is a nine-day event that would conclude on Sunday, November 28. Karan Johar and Maniesh Paul are the hosts of the grand event.
Bollywood celebs Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh graced the opening ceremony today. The other line-up of stars who will attend the film gala includes Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia Deshmukh, Shraddha Kapoor, among others.

International Film Festival of India 2021: Awardees, Films and More
It is expected that around 75 celebrities from the film industry as well as many others from the political fraternity would attend the event.
The 52nd edition of IFFI is geared up to celebrate not only Indian cinema and artists but also those across the globe. The International Film Festival of India is believed to be the country’s largest festival.
Speaking about the awardees to be honored at the event, veteran actress and Member of Parliament Hema Malini have been honored with the Indian Film Personality of the Year 2021 award today during the opening ceremony.

Also, acclaimed lyricist and current Chairperson of the Central Bureau of Film Certification (CBFC), Prasoon Joshi will also be presented with the same award.
IFFI also honored veteran Hollywood director Martin Scorsese and renowned Hungarian filmmaker Istvan Szabo with Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the opening ceremony today.

IFFI Director Chaitanya Prasad had earlier said, “Unfortunately, they will not be attending the festival physically but their video messages conveying acceptance of the award will be played.”

A special tribute will be paid to late James Bond actor Sean Connery at the ceremony. Among those who will be honored at the event also include popular actors who passed away in 2021 – Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar, Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, popular television actress Surekha Sikri, Sanchari Vijay as well as filmmakers like Buddhadeb Dasgupta and Sumitra Bhave.
International Film Festival of India 2021: Films to be featured at the event
A total of 148 films from 73 countries will be featured in the International section of the IIFI event which includes 12 world premieres, 7 international premieres, 26 Asia premieres, and 64 India premieres.
Amazon Prime Video is bringing “Chhori” featuring Nushrratt Bharuccha to the event. Vinothraj PS-s directed film, “Koozhangal” which is India’s official entry to Oscars, will be competing for the ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the IFFI.
The King of All the World directed by Carlos Saura is the opening film while A Hero directed by Asghar Farhadi will be the closing film of the event.
