Hold your breath as the World’s richest person Elon Musk has revealed that he does not own a home and uses his friend’s spare bedroom on a rotational basis.
In a video interview with Chris Anderson, head of conference organizers TED published on 18th April 2022, Elon Musk said, “I don’t even own a place right now, I’m literally staying at friends’ places. If I travel to the Bay Area, which is where most of Tesla’s engineering is, I basically rotate through friends’ spare bedrooms”.

Elon Musk was responding to Anderson’s comment that because of the disparity in wealth where the poor is becoming poorer and the rich are becoming richer, many are offended by the concept of billionaires.
“For sure, it would be very problematic if I was spending billions of dollars a year in personal consumption, but that is not the case. I don’t own a yacht or really take vacations”, Musk added.
According to Bloomberg billionaires Index, Elon musk’s net worth is estimated to be $251 billion as of 2022. US lawmakers like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who is known to be a critic of matters concerning US citizens, has criticized multi-billionaires like Musk for their comparatively low tax bills.

“It’s not as though my personal consumption is high. I mean, the one exception is the plane, but if I don’t use the plane then I have less hours to work,” he said.
Musk and Twitter saga
Musk’s interview which was prerecorded has come after he discussed with Anderson live at a TED conference on 15th April. He was addressing the issues pertaining to his recent open offer to buy out microblogging social media giant “Twitter”.
Musk disclosed that he indeed has plan B in place in case Twitter rejects his $43 billion open offer to buy out the company. He restrained from sharing any further details about his plan.
Musk informed that even though he can technically afford to buy the company there is a possibility that he may not be able to acquire the company during the live event.
His partner Grimes’ shocking revelation
His partner, Grimes said in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, that Elon sometimes lived “below the poverty line.”
She further went on to say that he declined to purchase a new mattress after her side had a hole in it.
A few years back, Google’s co-founder and then-CEO Larry Page disclosed in 2015 that at times when Musk visited Silicon Valley, he would send an email and ask, “I don’t know where to stay tonight. Can I come over?”.
It is reported that Musk visits Waterfront Estate in Texas other than crashing at his friends’ places for a few days. The estate is owned by Ken Howery, a billionaire who is known to Elon Musk since they used to work together at PayPal.
