The beautiful piece that has been titled The Expected One shows a young woman walking down the road meanwhile her eyes are fixed on a small square object that is in her hands. The amazing masterpiece was painted by Austrian painter Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller in the year 1860.

In the picture, the woman can be seen walking through a picturesque landscape and we can also see a man awaiting in the bushes, holding a pink flower. The art fans think the woman is holding a smartphone in her hand. The picture was created more than a century ago even before the intervention of mobile phones.

iPhone was launched in the year 2007 and the beautiful painting was created by the Austrian painter Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller in 1860. The art experts have a simple explanation for the illusion. It has been stated that the woman in the 1860 painting is said to be reading a prayer book while on her way to church.

Gerald Weinpolter, CEO of the art agency austrian-paintings.at, told Motherboard, “The girl in this Waldmüller painting is not playing with her new iPhone X, but is off to church holding a little prayer book in her hands.”

Who talked about the 1860 painting first?

Peter Russell, a retired local Glasgow government officer, was the first person to put some light on the 1860 painting. He told Motherboard, that he and his partner saw the painting this summer and the two of them wanted to know more about it.

Russell told Motherboard, “What strikes me most is how much a change in technology has changed the interpretation of the painting, and in a way has leveraged its entire context.”

He further added, “The big change is that in 1850 or 1860, every single viewer would have identified the item that the girl is absorbed in as a hymnal or prayer book. Today, no one could fail to see the resemblance to the scene of a teenage girl absorbed in social media on their smartphone.”

How did the netizens react to the 150-year-old painting?

One social media user wrote, “This painting is 150 years old Where she get the iPhone from Must be checking her @VisionCryptoApp,” meanwhile another user penned, “Looks like the iPhone 14 by the size.”

A user went on to say, “150 yr old painting showing a woman “looking at an iphone”??? Did it occur to anyone that it could be a (book) that she is reading????? How dumb can you get???”
