Although Amber Portwood has lost custody of her 4-year-old son James after a three-year court battle with his father, Andrew Glennon, she is determined to keep her head up.
According to court documents, an Indiana judge has given the Teen Mom OG star’s ex-husband sole legal and physical custody of the child, which means that James can move to California to live with Andrew at his family’s Malibu estate.
It has been reported that Amber went on Instagram Live shortly after the news broke to tell her fans she is staying positive and will fight this battle no matter what happens.
Amber Will Be Consulted On Any Major Decisions Andrew Makes Regarding James
The judge and the decision on custody and relocation of the child also requested that Andrew consult with Amber and consider her opinion before making any significant decisions concerning the child’s medical treatment, education, and religion.
During a prolonged court battle that began in 2019 following Amber’s arrest for domestic battery against Andrew, the case resulted in Amber being granted overnight visitation rights, which will be phased out over a few months to allow James to get used to the new schedule.
Amber’s Troubled Relationship With Her Former Beaus And Children
Besides Amber, she shares 13-year-old daughter Leah with her ex Gary Shirley, who has been a prominent face on MTV’s Teen Mom franchise.
In March, at the end of Teen Mom: Family Reunion, Amber said she would never give up on a chance to repair her fractured relationship with her daughter, Leah, and to make things right with her. Leah has moved in with Gary and his wife and is living with them.
There was a time when Amber, after storming off the Teen Mom OG reunion set during a fight with Gary over how Leah would seek therapy, insisted both she and her daughter were doing well.

Earlier this year, Amber Portwood, 29, was caught up in a new legal battle in which she was involved. On July 5, the reality star, who has been open about her struggles with bipolar disorder and depression, was arrested on felony charges of domestic battery. It appears that Amber is working her way through a processing centre following her arrest and has been jailed in the meantime.
Amber has been involved in legal troubles before, yet this isn’t the first time she has publicly dealt with them. As a result of both on and off-camera incidents with Gary, she was charged in November 2010 with three counts of domestic violence.
Her probation was also violated in the domestic violence incidents, in which she was jailed for possessing a controlled substance and was found to have violated her probation for containing a controlled substance. In January of 2012, she pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to five years in prison in February of that year.
Amber’s situation, however, is not going very well at the moment. There is still hope for her. She has not given up yet. Amber should be getting help in a theraputic rehab. She should not be going to prison. She has a mental health condition which if given the right meds will help her with her bipolar. She is not a criminal. Amber needs some good doctors that can figure out and test to see how she reacts. Sometimes it takes a while to get the right combination.
