Will There Be A Grace And Frankie Spin-Off? June Diane Raphael Spilled Some Details
Grace and Frankie is definitely one crazy ride. If you’re wondering about a spin-off show in making, we’ve some exciting details.
June Diane Raphael spilled some tea regarding a spin-off show. The star revealed that she’s writing a script with Howard Morris.
And this spin-off series focused on her portrayal, Brianna Hanson, the daughter of Jane Fonda’s Grace. Her character was described as ‘unapologetically powerful‘ by the actress. Then she revealed that they are in the process of creating a spin-off show.
“We spent months, honestly, just talking through the idea that women’s currency is devalued to our culture as we get older, and a lot of times it’s the opposite for men.
And we talked about what Brianna is potentially losing and gaining as she ages alone, and how a woman who is alone can create a deep fear in so many people.”
June Diane Raphael Explained About The ‘Character’ Of The Spin-off
The actress also added that there is absolutely more to Brianna’s narrative and that understanding what it entails to be a middle-aged woman without children or a husband is especially compelling.
“Fans will see that the way the show ends, there’s more to say about Brianna’s story — in the same way, that the original tackles what it means to be in your 70s and 80s, I think exploring what it means to be a middle-aged woman [like Brianna] without children or a husband is equally exciting.”
Star June Diane Raphael Appearance ‘Talk’
June Diane Raphael also added a little more about her appearance before.
“I connect to roles that portray women in ways where they don’t have to be so likable and acceptable.
There’s such a long way to go in terms of the ways in which we’re comfortable seeing women and hearing their stories and seeing them in their full humanity and complexity and anger and rage and sadness and humor and wrongness—all the ways women show up.
That’s what I find in my own life, that the women in it are so interesting, complicated, hilarious, insane, all of the stuff.”
Everyone’s Grateful For Season 7 Of Grace And Frankie
Marta Kauffman, the show’s co-creator, stated that they are grateful for a seventh season.
“It was a combination of things. Netflix isn’t doing long-term series anymore. And we are really lucky that we got the seventh season.
I think when we started, we imagined seven seasons. But, really, this is the kind of decision that comes from Netflix. But as sad as I am that it’s ending, there’s something that makes sense about it.”
The show will be added to the list of Netflix’s longest-running shows. And it’s actually outperforming Orange Is the New Black. The streaming platform has not officially greenlit a spin-off, but they are in the midst.
So, we may expect to hear the update soon. In the meantime, you’re welcome to share your thoughts on the spin-off ‘talk’. As well as whether or not you want the show to end.
