A Respectful Joint Statement…
Australian actress Toni Collette and musician David Galafassi are ending their marriage of almost 20 years! The drummer and 50-year-old actress shared a joint statement, announcing their divorce. Toni even posted the statement on her Instagram yesterday (Dec. 7).
The joint statement reads: “It is with grace and gratitude that we announce we are divorcing. We’re united in our decision and part with continuing respect and care for each other,” the statement reads next to a photo of a floral sign that says “Peace & Love.”
Collette and Galafassi, who share two children: a 14-year-old daughter Sage and an 11-year-old son Arlo, revealed in their statement that their kids “are of paramount importance to us and we will continue to thrive as a family, albeit a different shape.”
“We’re thankful for the space and love you grant us as we evolve and move through this transition peacefully,” they said in the statement. “Big thanks. Toni Collette and David Galafassi.” Fans are now wondering why this longtime couple has suddenly decided to part ways. Well, the woman who was found kissing David has been identified as Shannon Egan.
Why Is Toni Divorcing David?
Toni Collette and David Galafassi have been married for almost two decades. The couple first met in 2002 at the album launch for Galafassi’s then-band Gelbison and married in a Buddhist ceremony about a year later, on January 11, 2003. Their daughter Sage Florence Galafassi was born in January 2018 and their son, Arlo Robert Galafassi was born in April 2011.
Previously, the actress shared about permanently relocating with Galafassi to Sydney where it feels like “home”. “I have lived in so many different places and we, as a family, are incredibly adaptable and able to set up house anywhere when I’m working,” she stated.
Toni added in her interview, “But that feeling of home is a feeling you can’t fabricate, and when I get home to Sydney that feeling is very strong. It was really all about being with our tribe, the people we love, and enjoying Sydney.”
The announcement of their divorce comes after Galafassi was caught kissing a bikini-clad model. The photos of him making out with Shannon Egan surfaced all over the internet, and it came out that the two must have been romantically linked. However, Collette and Galafassi did not specify when they officially separated before announcing their divorce.
If you aren’t aware, a few hours before sharing the news about their divorce, Collette posted a cryptic quote to her Instagram Story that read, “No matter what your current circumstances are, if you can imagine something better for yourself, you can create it.”
The suspicious social media activity was preceded by paps photos showing David making out with a mystery blonde on the beach in Sydney early Wednesday morning. Well, time changes and so do people.
Even though her soon-to-be ex-husband shared a humble statement, which reflects a mutual decision, Toni surely has been cheated upon by David. However, the couple hasn’t commented on the issue yet.
