Whoopi Goldberg Takes a Break from ‘The View’ to Star in Neil Gaiman’s Series

Whoopi Goldberg is going to be absent from The View for a while. The TV host will be taking a hiatus from the talk show. She is set to put her duties as an anchor aside for some time.

What is the reason behind Whoopi’s break from ‘The View’?

Caryn Elaine Johnson popularly known as Whoopi Goldberg will not be seen on the panel of the American talk show The View. We have all been so used to seeing her on our TV screens and not watching her will seem a little odd to us.

The show has had a great team of panelists over the last many years. Along with Whoopi, the current lineup of panelists of the talk show includes television host Sara Haines, comedian Joy Behar, and lawyer Sunny Hostin. Ana Navarro has also made several appearances on the show as a guest panelist. The View was created by broadcast journalist Barbara Walters.

Goldberg’s co-panelist Joy Behar spilled the beans on her decision of taking a break from The View. She said, “If you’re wondering where Whoopi is, the girl’s got a movie she’s making and she will be back when she finishes whatever she’s doing. So she’s gone for a while.”

Joy didn’t disclose any further details about Whoopi’s break from The View like for how long  Goldberg will not be seen on the show and more.

Whoopi to star in an upcoming Amazon Studios series

The 66-year-old will be seen in a forthcoming series of Amazon Studios that is titled Anansi Boys. The show is going to be an adaptation of author Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name.

In the forthcoming project, Whoopi will essay the role of Bird Woman who is described as one of the show’s key antagonists. A representative from the end of ABC has reported that the actress will start shooting for her part in the upcoming few weeks.

Not long ago, the Grammy winner was spotted out and about in public at a restaurant in Scotland where the shooting of the show is going on currently.

What did Goldberg have to say about her new role?

During an interaction with the media, Whoopi said, “I have been a fan of this book for a very long time and when Neil Gaiman told me it was being brought to the screen, I did everything I could to be part of it to help make people aware of Anansi and all his magic.”

Earlier this year, Goldberg was suspended for a total of 2 weeks by ABC. She had to face the suspension because of the widespread condemnation for declaring during a segment that the Holocaust was not about race.

Later on, Whoopi apologized for the same. “The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never waiver [sic]. I’m sorry for the hurt I have caused,” she tweeted.

We can’t wait to see Whoopi Goldberg back not only on the TV screen but on the big screen as well. Don’t forget to stay tuned with us for the latest updates from the world of entertainment.
