Tom Cruise’s Earnings from Top Gun: Maverick
As per Variety, Cruise’s base salary from the film is only $13 million. Above that, he will be getting 10% to 20% of the gross share from the theatrical run of the film. The movie is still going strong worldwide and will soon gross over $1 billion. Hence Tom’s share of the film’s profits will be around $100 million-$200 million.
If he does get $200 Million, it will set a new record for the highest pay received by an actor for a film. The previous title for this record was held by Bruce Willis, who made $114 million from his 1999 blockbuster The Sixth Sense.
Cruise’s Earnings from Previous Films
Cruise is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. He has always been one of the highest-paid actors in the world. Currently, his net worth is around $600 million! Before Top Gun: Maverick, he made the most amount of money from his films Mission Impossible 2 (2000) and War of the Worlds (2005). He got $100 million from each of the films.
From his debut in 1983 till the 2018 hit Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Tom has had $745 million as his earnings from movie salaries and bonuses. His salary from the first Top Gun film in 1986 was $2 million.

Top Gun: Maverick’s Successful Run at the Theatres
Tom Cruise returned to the movie screens after four years with Top Gun: Maverick. Released on 27th May 2022, the film is a sequel to the 1986 hit Top Gun. The original film was the highest-grossing film of 1986 and collected $360 million at the box office.
The sequel is directed by Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski and produced by Paramount Pictures. Originally planned to be released in 2019, the film was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic multiple times.
Set 36 years after the events of the first part, the film follows the journey of Maverick, played by Tom Cruise, as he returns to TOPGUN and trains a group of young aviators. Top Gun: Maverick received mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences.
The film collected $160.5 million in the USA over the four days of its opening weekend. It has already collected over $900 million worldwide, becoming the highest grossing film of 2022 so far. The film has also become the highest-grossing film for Tom Cruise, surpassing Mission Impossible – Fallout’s lifetime collection of $791.1 million.
