YouTube star Liza Koshy has taken her career from 30 second Vine videos to hosting red carpet events and television game shows like the remake of Nickelodeon‘s “Double Dare.” Koshy has achieved great heights on her YouTube channel, as evidenced by her interview with President Barack Obama before the 2016 Presidential elections.

Koshy’s brand of comedy is unique because her content is clean enough for kids to watch, yet funny enough for adults to keep coming back for more. She has hilarious characters like Jet and Helga, skits with overly dramatic responses to real situations like shopping at Target or the dollar store. Like her catchphrase says, this “little brown girl is too adorkable not to follow!

Here’s our timeline of Koshy’s rising career!

On March 16, 1996, Elizabeth Koshy aka Liza, was born in Houston, Texas.

Koshy’s claim to fame began on the now forgotten social media site Vine. The short clips on her Vine channel, named “Lizzza,” had fans literally rolling on the floor laughing. She had over 7 million followers on Vine by the time it shut down in 2017.

As the popularity of Vine decreased, Koshy joined YouTube in 2015. Koshy released her first YouTube video in July.

Koshy took a shot at acting as a supportive character in Tyler Perry’s “Boo! A Madea Halloween.” She played Aday Walker in the film, the best friend of the lead character played by Diamond White. The popular comedy series also starred fellow YouTuber Yousef Erakat, who is known for his channel, FouseyTube.

She also joined the Hulu original series “Freakish” as Violet Adams. She played Princess Aubrey in the MTV film “FML,” written and directed by the internet star and Koshy’s good friend Jason Nash. She also starred as herself in the YouTube Premium ”Jingle Ballin” show.

With YouTube expanding their assets, the company dived into creating original content. Koshy joined the YouTube Red series “Escape the Night,” a comedic horror with YouTube stars as guests at a dinner party. In between her fabulous YouTube career, she began covering events for MTV’s red carpet events and co-hosting segments on “Total Request Live.”

She also hosted the 2017 Golden Globe Awards pre-show and became the first influencer to be interviewed by Vogue Magazine for their “73 questions” series online. She actually made 2 videos, one as herself and one as her character “Helga.”

Koshy went on to create a hilarious new YouTube Premium show “Liza on Demand,” where she’s trying to adult while working for multiple jobs like Uber and Postmates. The first two episodes of the show are free but you’ll have to get YouTube Premium to keep watching.

She’s still presenting on Total Request Live and she is the new host of the remake of the classic Nickelodeon game show, “Double Dare.” Koshy is set to voice the Owl in the animated short “Crow: The Legend,” starring John Legend and written by Eric Darnell. This year she also interviewed stars at the Met Gala red carpet on behalf of Vogue.

Recently, she also did the Wired Autocomplete Interview series, so if you want to know even more about her, this is the place:

Currently, the pun-tastic star has over 15 million subscribers on YouTube, two channels with over 2 billion views, two Streamy Awards, a Teen Choice Award and a Kids’ Choice Award. The influencer also collaborates with The Giving Keys, a jewelry company that helps the homeless by employing and supporting them.

Koshy is working towards the peak of her career and this star still has a long way to go.
