Apple TV+ announced that “Schmigadoon!,” the musical comedy will be having another season and Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page will be the new additions to the cast of the show. This was released by Apple TV+ through a press release which was conducted on Friday.
More About the Series
The show stars Cecily Strong and Keegan Michael Key as a couple who goes by the names Melissa Gimble and Josh Skinner. Both of them are doctors who hail from New York and the series shows how the couple go on a backpacking trip soon after their relationship hits a rough patch and on the trip, they find themselves lost in the Schimgadoon town. This town is all about the life in the 1940s-50s musical kinds and all the characters are inspired by “Okhalama” and “The Music Man.”

They find themselves in a situation where they can escape the town only after they find true love whether it is for each other or with someone else in the town. Eventually, they do find love now they move to the world o 60s and 70’s musicals as they move into the second season.

The cast of the Show
Apart from Key and Strong, the cast of the series included the returning stars Alan Cumming as Mayor Aloysius Menlove, Ann Harada as the mayor’s wife Florence Menlove, Jane Krakowski as Doc Lopez’s fiancée Countess Gabriele Von Blerkom, Ariana DeBose as school teacher Emma Tate, Kristin Chenoweth as preacher’s wife Mildred Layton, Dove Cameron as waitress Betsy McDonough, Jaime Camil as widower and doctor Jorge Lopez, Martin Short as Leprechaun and Aaron Tveit as carnival barker Danny Bailey.

The characters for the newly added cast members Burgess and Page have not been announced yet.
Production and Creation of the Show
The series Schmigadoon!” is by Universal Television and Broadway Television. the show has been co=created by Ken Durio and Cinco Paul with Cinco being the showrunner and scripting all the original songs for the show. Andrew Singer and Lorne Michaels are executively producing the series and the co-executive producers include director Robert Luketic and Micah Frank, and Strong and Caroline Maroney.
The Renewal of Schmigadoon
The official news of the renewal came nearly a year after the show wrapped its first season which comprised six episodes. Though Apple does not release the data on release ratings, it could be noted that the series was able to gain an impressive 88% and 82% ratings from the critics and viewers on Rotten Tomatoes.

Since the show globally debuted on Apple TV last year, it has been honoured with an AFI Award as well and it has received wide praise and commendations including a Critics Choice Award nomination for the star Kristin Chenoweth for the category of the Best Supporting Actress.
We hope that the second season can charm the fans as the first season did.
This is not the only Apple TV Originals show which has recently received a renewal for the second season, Severance, The Afterparty and Slow Horses are also on the list of renewals for this year.
