RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 14 remained with heart-throbbing finalists such as Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Bosco, Daya Betty, Willow Pill and Lady Camden who dazzled viewers with their solo numbers instead of lipsync showdowns.
Guess who is the winner? It’s none other than Willow Pill. Yes, Mama Ru crowed the Denver-based Drag Queen who also got a franchise-high $150,000 cash prize. The runner-up was Lady Camden who settled with a cash price of $50,000.
After receiving the honor, Willow said, “I just really want to thank my family and my friends, and most of all I need to thank Kornbread’s ankle.” The 27-year-old drag queen won the longest season in Drag Race history with two of the best lip-sync performances including an original number “I Hate People”.
Angeria set the Season finale on fire with her high-energy rap number whole Bosco gave a burlesque performance. Daya performed a rock song while Lady Camden with a Queen-inspired lip-syncs accompanied by her signature ballet moves.
Our winner Willow Pill gave a quirky “Vogue”-like routine which was more than enough to impress Mama Ru. In the end, Lady Camden and Willow Pill lip-synced for the prestigious crown while revealing multiple layers of their looks.
Apart from Willow Pill’s big win, Kornbread won the Miss Congeniality prize which is given to the kindest queen of the season. The finale was showcased live on VH1. As a part of the old tradition, Symone who won Season 13 crowned her successor Willow Pill.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 14
The season showcased Maddy Morphosis who was the show’s first heterosexual, cisgender male contestant. Apart from this, there were five transgender contestants such as Kerri Colby and Kornbread who came in as openly trans. Jasmine Kennedie came out as a trans during the filming of the show while Borca came out as a trans woman during the season.
This season’s winner, Willow Pill came out as a trans femme as the season aired. Season 14 was full of surprises. It was the first season to feature a “Chocolate Bar Twist” in its third episode wherein each contestant was given a colocated bar.
One of these bars included a golden ticket. Whoever lost a lip-sync was supposed to unwrap their bar. However, the contestant with the golden ticked attained immunity from elimination. Episode 12 revealed that it was Bosco who has the golden ticket.
Season 14’s winner Willow Pill daughter of Yvie Oddly is the winner of Season 11 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. FYI, the name Willow comes from the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” character, Willow Rosenburg.
Willow Pill is known for her quirky little pill. Willow digs deep to showcase a wicked sense of humor and a striking drag style. She finally has the much-deserving title as a result of this big win What do you think about her performance?
