Taylor Swift gets snubbed by Oscars for Best Original Song
Yeah, you read that right. The Snow on the Beach singer failed to make it to the list of Oscar nominees. Swift’s song Carolina from the movie Where the Crawdads Sing was not nominated for best original song for Oscars 2023.
On the other hand, when we put some light on the nominees in the best original song category, it had some big names like Rihanna and Lady Gaga. Rihanna’s song Lift Me Up from Marvel’s blockbuster movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand from Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick scored Oscar nods for best original song.
Along with Rihanna and Lady Gaga, Mitski and David Byrne also received a nomination for their song This is a Life from Everything Everywhere All at Once. Other nominees in the same category are as follows: Naatu Naatu from RRR, and Applause from Tell It Like a Woman.

In addition to this, Swift’s song Carolina has also been nominated for a Grammy as well as for a song written for visual media. Taylor also earned nods for song of the year (All Too Well), country song (I Bet You Think About Me (From the Vault), and best music video (All Too Well: The Short Film).
Rihanna’s song Lift Me Up, co-written with composer Ludwig Goransson and director Ryan Coogler is from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The song was penned down as a tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who played the role of King T’Challa in the original Black Panther. Chadwick passed away at the age of 43 in 2020 after a battle with colon cancer.
Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand, from Top Gun: Maverick was co-written with Bloodpop and it managed to create a buzz among the viewers. The song bagged nominations at the Critics’ Choice Awards and Golden Globes.
RRR’s hit song Naatu Naatu which went viral after the movie ruled at the box office is also an Oscars frontrunner. The Oscars 2023 will be held on March 12 at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.
