A News Page on Twitter Alleges Minaj Buys Fake Followers
The claim has been made by a Twitter page, which goes by the name ‘Now HipHop News’. The page tweeted two images of the rapper’s Instagram follower count, which shows the number of inactive followers on her profile.
The page wrote along with the photos, “BREAKING NEWS: Nicki Minaj has been caught buying fake followers on Instagram.” The image shows the 39 year old singer’s total Instagram followers as 193.99 million, out of which 79.8 million have been categorized as real followers, and 114.3 million accounts are termed as inactive followers.

With this, 59% of her followers are labeled as fake by the Twitter handle. The likes on her posts have also been analyzed. It is reported that the average likes on a post of the Anaconda singer are 2.83 million as opposed to the target of 6.79 million.
It should be noted that the page ‘Now HipHop News’ has a verified profile on Twitter and has around 1 million followers. However, it is not yet confirmed whether the ‘fake followers’ report is true or not. Nicki has not yet commented on the matter.
Nicki’s Fans come to her Defense
After the tweet went viral, Nicki’s fans came to her support, saying that the report could be untrue. The tweet has been getting a lot of comments from the singer’s supporters. One fan wrote, “The lies. Y’all do anything for clout tell cardi she gotta pay y’all a lil more if she wanna make Nicki look bad.”
While another wrote, “Inactive followers does not mean fake followers lmao. Let’s talk about your 1m followers? That’s a little sus,” Another one tweeted, “inactive doesn’t mean that its fake.”
There were Rumors about the Singer’s Pregnancy Recently
Nicki was recently in the news when there were speculations being made that the singer might be pregnant. She went on to rubbish the rumors during her Instagram Live last week. She said during the live, “Am I pregnant?” She chuckled and followed up with, “Oh, I did mean to tweet this: I’m not fat, y’all, I’m pregnant.”
The singer then continued with, “Oh wait. Did I say it wrong? I’m sorry. I think I said it wrong. I meant to say I’m not pregnant, I’m fat.”
“But thanks, guys, for all the congratulatory messages,” she added, laughing. Nicki currently has a one year old son with her husband, Kenneth Petty. The singer recently also teased her next song, titled Freaky Girl.
