Television actress Mrunal Thakur is making her big screen debut alongside a brilliant international cast of actors in Tabrez Noorani’s “Love Sonia.”

“Love Sonia” is inspired by real events and delves into the dark world of human trafficking and prostitution. Thakur plays Sonia, a 17-year-old girl who’s sister Preeti is sold off to a pimp. In order to find her sister, Sonia asks to be sent away too, not knowing her sister was sold into prostitution. Innocent Sonia’s simple life in the village takes a dark turn as she fights to survive in the dark streets of Mumbai as she is sold to men for the night and even shipped in a crate to another country.

The new trailer just released and with the dark plot of this heart-wrenching story along with the phenomenal acting from the talented cast, we’ve got high hopes for this film!

Thakur told IANS how glad she is to be a part of such a moving film for her first big project.

“This is probably the best role, team and a film to start up with. I am extremely glad to debut amongst all the talented actors,” Thakur told IANS. “I really hope that it reaches the world and a lot of girls can be saved. I am extremely proud to be associated with the whole team.”

The film also stars Freida Pinto, Richa Chadha, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain, Rajkummar Rao and Sai Tamhankar, and  American actors Mark Duplass and Demi Moore. “Love Sonia” premiered at the London Indian Film Festival in June and won the Best Indie Film Award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2018.

Love Sonia hits theaters on September 14.
