Meet The Lead Cast Of ‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’

Netflix has released a new biographical crime drama miniseries that has shocked spectators. The show follows the killings of Jeffrey Dahmer, a late but still notorious serial killer who terrorized Wisconsin from the late 1970s to the early 1990s by brutally murdering 17 boys and gay men.

It’s been quite frightening to watch and know the story since the beginning of the series. The miniseries is told primarily through the eyes of his victims. Every detail, from the acting to the set plays, is meticulously portrayed to provide an extremely realistic portrayal of Dahmer’s life.

Along with the horrifying crime narrative, spectators have been inquisitive about the cast members who appear in the series. And they all resemble the real-life people who have been involved.

Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story Cast Guide

Here’s everything we know about the cast members of the miniseries.

Evan Peters As Jeffrey Dahmer

Many spectators applauded Evan Peters’ performance and the way he portrayed Jeffrey Dahmer. Spectators agreed that Peters was an outstanding fit for the role. Jeffrey was also known as the Milwaukee Monster or the Milwaukee Cannibal.

Many of his later murders included necrophilia, cannibalism, and the permanent preservation of body parts—usually the entire or a portion of the skeleton.

On November 28, 1994, Dahmer was beaten to death by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver. Peter is most well-known for his appearances in the FX anthology series American Horror Story, as Stan Bowes in the first season of the FX ballroom drama Pose, and as Peter Maximoff / Quicksilver in the X-Men film series and the Marvel Cinematic Universe series WandaVision.

Peter won a Primetime Emmy Award for his performance in Mare of Easttown in 2021. Peters has also appeared in national commercials for well-known companies such as Kellogg’s, Papa John’s Pizza, and PlayStation.

Peter remarked something after doing research on Jeffrey Dahmer’s killings.

”It felt important to be respectful to the victims, to the victims’ families. To try and tell the story as authentically as we could. And you need to have certain plot points because he did do these things, but you don’t need to embellish them; we get it. You don’t need to see them over and over again.”

Richard Jenkins As Lionel Dahmer

Jeffrey Dahmer’s father is Lionel Dahmer. He’s a research chemist by profession. Richard gave a convincing portrayal of Jeffrey Dahmer’s father. Richard is a comedian and actor.

For the limited drama series Olive Kitteridge, he received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie. Jenkins performed with the Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island, before making his acting debut in Feasting with Panthers (1974), a movie about Oscar Wilde.

Michael Learned As Catherine Dahmer

Jeffrey used to live with his grandmother, Catherine Dahmer. You’ll be surprised to hear that Jeffrey enticed his victims to his grandmother’s house. In the series, Michael played Catherine. She is also well known for her portrayal of Olivia Walton in the CBS drama series The Waltons (1972–1981).

She has received four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Michael had a successful career throughout her life.

Penelope Ann Miller As Joyce Dahmer

You might be wondering who this person is. Joyce Dahmer is Jeffrey’s biological mother. Joyce struggled with her mental well-being her entire life and tried to commit suicide. She died as a result of breast cancer.

Joyce Dhamer was played by actress Penelope Ann Miller. The actress began her Broadway career in the original production of Biloxi Blues in 1985 and received a Tony Award nomination for the 1989 revival of Our Town.

She starred in Adventures in Babysitting (1987), Biloxi Blues (1988), Big Top Pee-wee (1988), The Freshman (1990), Awakenings (1990), Kindergarten Cop (1990), Other People’s Money (1991), and Year of the Comet (1992).

Niecy Nash As Glenda Cleveland

Glenda Cleveland was Jeffrey’s neighbor, and she suspected him of some suspicious behavior. She also told the cops she was skeptical of him, but they did nothing.

She becomes convinced that Jeffrey is up to something after witnessing unusual activity, stinky foul odors, and hearing shrieks and power drills from his apartment.

Niecy is an actress, comedian, and television host best known for her television appearances. You may have seen Niecy in one of the most well-known teen dramas. In ‘Never Have I Ever,’ she played Dr. Jamie Ryan.

Niecy presumed Glenda was one of Jeffrey’s victims who “had fallen through the cracks” because she was never “physically harmed” by the infamous murderer.

She said, “When you hear the different things that happened with regards to Jeffrey Dahmer and his victims, Glenda was one of his victims too. And her story has been told the least of these.”

Shaun J. Brown As Tracy Edwards

The arrest of Jeffrey was made possible by Tracy, who escaped his apartment and led the police to the rooms, where they discovered Jeffrey’s truth and arrested him for all of the killings.

Tracy was saved, but he was also charged with drug possession, property damage, stealing, and failure to pay child support. He had to face his charges. Following the Dahmer incident, Tracy was charged with homicide.

He was one of two men caught on suspicion of pushing a man off a bridge, according to reports.

Tracy is well-known as the man who escaped Jeffrey’s murders. Shaun, who performed Tracy, is an actor best known for his work on the TV show The Great Indoors. Ronald is played by Burnside. He is a singer and actor. He is best known for his portrayal of dancer Ricky Evangelista in the FX television series Pose. Burnside appeared in the fourth episode of the television anthology series American Horror Stories.

Furly Mac As Christopher Scarver

Christopher Scarver, the inmate who murdered Jeffrey Dahmer, completes the main cast. He is a convicted murderer who was responsible for the deaths of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and murderer Jesse Anderson.

According to reports, Scarver beat and mortally wounded Dahmer and Anderson with a 20-inch (51 cm) metal bar he had eliminated from an item of workout equipment in the prison weight room. Scarver was sentenced to two additional life sentences for the murders.

Scarver is presumed to have murdered Dahmer and Anderson, both white men because Dahmer had killed black men and Anderson had stabbed his wife to death and tried to frame two black men as the culprits of the attack.

He once interviewed and stated why he killed Dahmer. Christopher said, “He crossed the line with some people — prisoners, prison staff. Some people who are in prison are repentant, but he was not one of them. I saw heated interactions between [Dahmer] and other prisoners from time to time.”

Scarver recalled, “I asked him if he did those things ’cause I was fiercely disgusted. He was shocked. Yes, he was. He started looking for the door pretty quickly. I blocked him.”

Gerald Boyle who defended Dahmer during the trial stated, “It’s ridiculous.”  Continuing, “He told me he had a hit list of five guys who he did not feel were worthy of the word murderer because of who and how they killed.”

“Dahmer was such a milquetoast. He would never have done that stuff,” Boyle said. “He killed people, but he didn’t taunt people. I never saw him do anything that would lead me to believe that he would mimic the deaths that he caused. I just don’t believe that.”

Furly portrayed the guy who killed Dahmer. He is well-known for his roles in “Chicago PD” and “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.”

DaShawn Barnes As Rita Isabell

She is a family member of one of the victims. She recently stated, “When I saw some of the show, it bothered me, especially when I saw myself — when I saw my name come across the screen and this lady saying verbatim exactly what I said. If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought it was me.

Her hair was like mine, she had on the same clothes. That’s why it felt like reliving it all over again. It brought back all the emotions I was feeling back then.

I feel like Netflix should’ve asked if we mind or how we felt about making it. They didn’t ask me anything. They just did it. I could even understand it if they gave some of the money to the victims’ children.

The victims have children and grandchildren. If the show benefited them in some way, it wouldn’t feel so harsh and careless. It’s sad that they’re just making money off of this tragedy. That’s just greed.”

She then added, “The episode with me was the only part I saw. I didn’t watch the whole show. I don’t need to watch it. I lived it. I know exactly what happened.”

DaShawn Barnes played Rita in the miniseries. She is known for her appearance in This Is Us.
