Mariah Carey to Perform at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The 52 year old singer took to Instagram on Friday to announce that she will be performing at the 96th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Cary posted a video in which the pages of a calendar were seen peeling off until the big day on November 24. She then says in the voice-over, “Hey, it’s Mariah! See you at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.”

“My childhood dream is coming to life! I’m going to be opening for the one and only, SANTA CLAUS 🎅🏼, at this year’s @macys Thanksgiving day parade! 🎄🎉💫 Tune in on Thanksgiving Day @NBC! 💖☃️ #macysparade” she captioned the post.

The 96th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place at New York City’s Herald Square on Thursday, November 24, and will be broadcast live on NBC. As per the network, Carey will be performing her set around noon ET, and yes, it will feature her iconic track All I Want for Christmas is You.

“The 96th edition of the parade will bring the nation together with a dazzling lineup featuring giant character helium balloons, fantastic floats, showstopping marching bands, high-spirited performance groups, whimsical clowns, music stars and the one-and-only Santa Claus,” NBC said in their press release.

Mariah Carey is also Performing in a TV Holiday Special

Apart from the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Carey can also be seen performing in the television special Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to All! that will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Tuesday, December 20.

The singer has made a name for herself as everyone’s favorite Christman artist due to her song All I Want for Christmas is You, which debuted in 1994 and has been able to top the charts during the holiday season in several different years.

The Singer Lost her Bid to Trademark the ‘Queen of Christmas’ Title

The news of Mariah Carey performing at the Thanksgiving Day Parade comes just a few days after her request to trademark the ‘Queen of Christmas’ title was denied by the Trial Trademark and Appeal Board. Her company, Lotion LLC, was seeking to use the title as well as other terms like ‘Princess Christmas’ and ‘QOC’ for a range of products.

But the lost battle for the trademark doesn’t make her any less of a Christmas Queen. Carey recently opened up about how she lives and celebrates the holiday season and said, “When I’m not on stage, and I’m in holiday mode, there are rules that I set.”

“I don’t care who it is – the kids, if I have guests, whatever – nobody is allowed to play or watch anything other than a Christmas-related thing. If I wake up in the middle of the night and walk into the living room, and the music isn’t playing and the lights aren’t on, I just can’t handle it,” she added.
