The American film adaptation of John Green’s book “The Fault in Our Stars” touched the heart of millions. Now Bollywood is taking on the story to recreate its magic with a desi twist. Green shared his excitement on social media about the casting updates for the Bollywood version of his book.

Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, the original leads of the film, also posted their excitement about the Bollywood version and it’s just too cute! They recounted their popular line from the film as well.

Filmmakers have just released the news that Sanjana Sanghi and Sushant Singh Rajput will play the leads. You may remember Sanghi from the recent hit “Hindi Medium.” She played the younger version of Saba Qamar in the film.

This will be the first time Rajput and Sanghi will be seen opposite each other on screen. Rajput congratulated his new costar with a post on Instagram welcoming her. How friggin’ sweet!

Legendary casting director Mukesh Chhabra took on the role of film director for this adaptation. With years of experience under his belt, it will be interesting to see how Chhabra will take on this shift in work.

Produced by Fox Star Studios, the shooting for the film will begin mid-2018. Let’s hope the Bollywood adaptation to the film is just as heartfelt as the original.
