‘Joker’ Sequel has a script and a title now
Not long ago, Todd took to his Instagram to confirm that he has penned the script for Joker 2 and he posted an image of the script’s cover and a black and white picture of Joaquin Phoenix reading the current draft of the screenplay on the social networking service Instagram.
Yes, you heard it right Joaquin Phoenix will be reprising his role as Arthur Fleck in the forthcoming movie. For those of you who are unversed, Joaquin led the cast of the first Joker, he played the role of a down-on-his-luck comedian and clown who just ends up falling down a rabbit hole of madness in a crumbling 1981 Gotham City.
As soon as Todd made the big announcement on Instagram, many of his fans and friends stopped by in the comments section to express their excitement about the upcoming film.
The Red Rocket star Simon Rex wrote, “I zoomed in on the script and I see my cameo you wrote me. Thanks man. I’ll see if I’m avail”, while the social media influencer Josh Richards dropped an eye and fire emoji on the post.
‘Joker’ was declared a blockbuster in 2019
The movie Joker was released in the year 2019 and it turned out to be the surprise hit of the year. It not only earned more than $1 billion at the box office but also led the 92nd Academy Awards with a total of 11 nominations.
Todd’s film was nominated in several categories including Best Picture, Director, and Adapted Screenplay. Phoenix took home the trophy for Best Actor and Hildur Guðnadóttir won the award for Best Original Score.
