Director Talks About the Inspiration Behind the Film
Director Mehdi Avaz explained that even though the film is based on a fictional story, he did take inspiration from his own difficult childhood to intensify the pain and struggle of Elliott’s character. In the film, the singer has to make some difficult choices and endure significant pain on the path to success, something that Avaz says he also faced.
The director also revealed that he discussed Elliot’s character with Christopher and the two decided that the character should not be a reflection of the singer’s real-life, but still have some of his traits as a singer.
