More Details about the award show
Indie Stage Awards was a star-studded affair. Many huge celebrities like Kristen Stewart Dianna Agron, Javier Bardem, Murray Bartlett, Jennifer Beals, Rosario Dawson, Daveed Diggs, Zola’s Colman Domingo, Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Hannah Einbinder, Bridget Everett, and Andrew Garfield played the role of presenters for the big night.
The gorgeous couple Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman hosted the show and all the Covid protocols were followed. At the start of the show, Nick said, “If you don’t win, you can walk straight into the ocean, right there.” Isn’t that great?
Who won both hearts and awards at the Indie Awards 2022?
Maggie Gyllenhaal took home 3 trophies for Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Feature Film. It was a night to remember for Maggie. The award for Best Male Lead went to Simon Rex for the movie ‘Red Rocket’. In his award-winning speech, he said, “My career was in the toilet, I moved out to Joshua Tree thinking it was over, then I got a call from Sean.”
He further added, “We shot this film during Covid, even finishing it was ambitious. I’m just grateful for Sean’s trust in me.” Whereas in the female category the award was bagged by Taylor Paige. She got emotional after receiving the award. Paige said, “I wrote something because I’m not eloquent and I’m drunk!”. She shared that the day she got to know that she got nominated for ‘Zola’, her grandmother had passed away.
Questlove secured the award for Best Documentary and said “We’re happy to be the conduit but we’re really just representing people who’s stories have been buried for so long.”
