Imagine Dragons and AJR to Headline Summerfest 2023
The organizers made the announcement on Monday, November 14, with an official post on social media. The festival page tweeted, “JUST ANNOUNCED @Imaginedragons with special guest @AJRBrothers takeover the @AmFamAmp on Saturday, July 8”.
The two bands will be setting the stage on fire on the last day of the festival, which goes on for three weekends. While Imagine Dragons and AJR would perform at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, the organizers are yet to announce the lineup and headliners at the festival stage.
The tickets go on sale on Friday, November 18, at 10 am on Ticketmaster and on Summerfest’s official website. However, the ticket prices have not been revealed yet. Meanwhile, presale tickets will be available on Insider from Thursday, November 17.
Imagine Dragons has Previously Headlined the Event Twice
The pop rock band, comprising lead singer Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, bassist Ben McKee, and drummer Daniel Platzman, has earlier headlined Summerfest’s Amphitheater in 2013 and 2018.
Their first performance at the festival in 2013 is still remembered as a historic moment, as when the band was about to perform, huge lines of the crowd were seen outside the venue, stretching far into the streets. The number of people was so large that the security had to open the gates for fifteen minutes to reduce the crowd.
As a result, some 5000 to 7000 people were said to have entered the venue without tickets. Meanwhile, Milwaukee police estimated that more than 117,000 people were attending the concert that night.
As for AJR, the band is also not new to Summerfest. The trio, which includes brothers Adam Met, Jack Met, and Ryan Met, performed at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater for this year’s edition of the festival. AJR put on a special act with an imaginative and dramatic stage production that impressed an audience of some 11,000 people.
Summerfest will Celebrate its 55th Year in 2023
Since its inception in 1968, Summerfest has been held annually in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Next year, the festival will celebrate its 55th anniversary and will again be organized at Maier Festival Park over three weekends: June 22 to 24, June 29 to July 1, and July 6 to 8.
Apart from Imagine Dragons and AJR, Zac Brown Band is confirmed to be performing at the event. The country music will be playing at the amphitheater on June 23. This year’s festival was also a star-studded affair and saw performances by some iconic musicians, including Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Machine Gun Kelly, and Backstreet Boys.
