After nine thrilling episodes, House of the Dragon Season 1 is coming to an end with the release of its tenth and final episode. The penultimate episode of the season aired recently and ended with Aegon being crowned as the King.
With the dance of the dragons about to begin finally, the audience can not wait for the final episode to air. But when will House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 10 be released? Read on to find out.
House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 10 Release Date and Time
The final episode of the season, titled The Black Queen, is coming out on Sunday, October 23, 2022, on HBO and HBO Max. The episode will air at 9 pm Eastern Standard Time.
The time translates to 6 pm Pacific Standard Time, 8 pm Central Standard Time, 2 am British Standard Time (October 24), 3 am Central Eastern Standard Time (October 24), and 6:30 am Indian Standard Time (October 24).
The episode is written by Ryan J. Condal and directed by Greg Yaitanes, who also directed The Rogue Prince and Second of His Name, the second and third episodes of the season. Though it will be the last episode of the season, viewers need not worry as the second season of the show has also been greenlit and will be making its way to your screens in the next one or two years.
What to Expect from the Final Episode?
As the premise for the civil war has been set up, the upcoming episode might just be the most enthralling episode of the season. HBO has now released a preview of the episode, and it features Rhaenys reaching Dragonstone and telling Rhaenyra that the greens are coming for her.
Daemon is then seen picking up his word and telling his wife, “You cannot bend the knee to the Hightowers, they stole your birth right.” As the blacks prepare for war, Jacerys and Lucerys express their urge to fight.
Ser Erryk Cargyll is also seen pledging his allegiances to Rhaenyra, while his twin brother, Ser Arryk, stays in King’s Landing to fight for the greens. The preview also features a lot of dragons, so be ready to watch the beasts roar in the visual spectacle next week.
What Happened in the Previous Episode?
The ninth episode, The Green Council, saw the Hightowers planning with the small council to crown Aegon as the King of Westeros before the news of Viserys’ death reaches Rhaenyra.
While Otto plans to kill Rhaenyra and her family to avoid obstacles in Aegon’s claim to the throne, Alicent is against her murder, resulting in a conflict between the father-daughter duo.
Meanwhile, Aegon, who does not seem to care one bit about the throne, had to be chased down by the Cargyll brothers and Ser Criston and Prince Aemond. On the other hand, Rhaneyra’s supporters are either forced to bend the knee or accept death.
Princess Rhaneys is locked in her room since she does not support Aegon’s claim. She is finally rescued by Ser Erryk, who tries to get her out of the city, but the two are separated in the middle of a crowd rushing to see the new King’s coronation.
After Aegon is crowned, Rhaenys breaks the ground and barges into the place with her dragon Meleys, terrifying the greens, and eventually flies out towards Dragonstone.
