Itami exiled the antagonist Zorzal El Caesar from the capital, ensuring good relations between the Imperial Capital and Japan Self-Defense Force(JSDF). Furthermore, Youji Itami also reverted the Gate from collapsing the two Worlds. Hence, Gate Season 3 could easily follow up the first season’s storyline.

Nonetheless, the antagonist of the first season- Zorzal, escaped the battlefields with some of his followers. Hence, he could return in the third one with some more powerful alliances. Gate manga also has multiple other storylines. One of which is based on the Japanese Maritime Special-Defense Force (JMSDF). Thus, Gate Season 3 could depict the further adventures of the navy warfares. Hence, multiple possibilities could come into action if only the production house decides so.
