Gap Sues Kanye West With $2 Million Lawsuit Over Failed Collaboration, Trying To Pass The Buck!

Kanye West landed himself in another legal trouble following a lawsuit against his Donda Academy. The rapper has now been sued by Gap for $2 million over their failed collaboration. Gap claims that the rapper made unapproved changes to a Los Angeles rental property the landlord is trying to collect on.

Yeezy Failed To Honor Partnership With Gap

Gap is suing Kanye West for $2 million for dropping the collaboration with the brand in September last year. Per court documents, the 45-year-old rapper dropped a partnership with Gap. It turns out that a company called Art City Centre has taken legal action against the clothing line for altercations made to a building it owns in Los Angeles.

This building is being used as a storefront for the “Donda” rapper’s clothing line, Yeezy. Through the lawsuit, the brand is trying to get him to foot the bill instead. Gap has sued Ye for $2 million, and this amount is set to cover what it would owe for the storefront, as well as some extra legal fees.

Gap Trying To Pass The Buck To Ye

The court documents revealed that the clothing giant was sued last year by the owner over “damages” to the property, at 1360 E. 6th St. The altercations included, installing a tunnel in the lot, removing ceiling lights, building a wall, nixing three bathrooms, and erecting an exterior ramp in the east side of the parking lot.

The suit against West claims, “by making and not repairing or restoring the foregoing alterations of the premises that [West] made without Gap’s participation or approval, [West] breached the strategic agreement and directly and proximately caused Gap to incur expenses to repair and restore the premises.”

Gap has passed the buck on West, claiming that he should be held responsible for any damages owned to Art City, as well as $2 million in compensatory damages for itself. Ye’s reps haven’t responded to requests for comments.

In April, Kanye West’s Donda Academy was sued by two former school teachers, who alleged “labor violations” in addition to “restrictive and unusual school rules” for teachers and students.

Among other allegations, the lawsuit also claims the kids were only allowed to eat sushi, the school had no janitorial services, and West wouldn’t allow the teachers or students to wear any jewelry. The plaintiff’s claimed:

“Kanye West is as bad at running a school as he is at managing his own personal and professional life, enabling an unsafe and illegal school environment for students that also discriminated against the plaintiffs based on their race.”

Coming back to Gap, the company cut its ties with the rapper last fall after he made a string of anti-semitic comments. “Antisemitism, racism, and hate in any form are inexcusable and not tolerated by our values,” Gap said in a statement at the time. Later, West claimed that the venture failed because he is a “king”.
