Ciarán Hinds Joins Netflix Spy Drama Series ‘Treason’

EXCLUSIVE: Ciarán Hinds has been cast in the Netflix spy drama series Treason, which hails from writer-showrunner Tom Edge (The Crown).

Ciarán Hinds (Game of Thrones, Justice League) has been tapped to join the cast of Netflix’s spy drama series Treason from The Last Kingdom producer BBC Studios. Here’s everything you need to know!

Hinds, who added a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his role in the Kenneth Branagh-directed film, will star alongside Olga Kurylenko, Oona Chaplin and Charlie Cox in the six-part series, which comes from Oscar-nominated Bridge of Spies screenwriter Matt Charman. 

Ciarán Hinds has taken the role of a series regular in the Netflix spy drama series “Treason.” Hinds, who plays Mance Rayder in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and Aberforth Dumbledore in Warner Bros.’ “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” plays Sir Martin Angelis, the head and mentor of Charlie Cox’s Adam.

Treason: Plot

Adam, who has been taught and trained by MI6, is forced to debate everything he knows about him when the past comes to his notice.

This involves three individuals who are in a position to respect each other’s secrets and navigate political and diplomatic relations, while also reconnecting with their children. 

The show is produced by Binocular Productions, Charman’s production company, and is the first major project. Creator Charman will write, showrun, and exec produce the series, alongside Valery Ryan, who is director of Binocular. Louise Hooper, who has helmed the Witcher, will direct.

Ciarán Hinds Lands Two Best Supporting Actor Awards At IFTA

The Belfast actor has scored two Best Supporting Actor Awards at the Irish Film and Television Academy. Hinds has finally been paid for his absolute thrilling performance in the RTE crime drama, KIN.

He was awarded in the drama category for the excellent portrayal of drug lord Eamon Cunnigham. 

He also took the film category for his role in Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast, portraying the character of grandfather to the young protagonist, Buddy. 

Branagh’s film was also named best UK feature at the BFI London Film Festival. The film tells the story of a boy growing up in Belfast in the 1970s, whose father has died and whose mother is forced to take on a second job.

It features a cast of Northern Irish actors including Hinds, Ciaran Hinds, Bronagh Gallagher and Caitriona Balfe.

Accepting the award in a virtual ceremony, Hinds expressed his thoughts and praised Branagh for such a heartwarming script and reminding him to reconnect to his roots.

The Belfast actor expressed in his speech saying that the story Ken portrayed of his childhood wad resonated with him due to the similarities with his own childhood. He also praised the people, community and the stoic stories of North Ireland.

Ciarán Hinds has been a character actor for an end number of films, giving us memorable performances in so many different characters.
