Bruno Makes a Piña Colada Entry
Bruno Mars entered The Ellen Show with two piña Coladas and the audience was already getting “beach vibes”. Ellen thanked Bruno for appearing on her second last show. The “Ellen” star asked Bruno about his first appearance on her show. She called Bruno a tiny baby as she played a 12-year-old recording wherein Bruno was seen performing with his band in the same show.
Ellen praised Bruno Mars for his success with “Silk Sonic”, his R&B superduo with Anderson. FYI, Bruno’s song “Leave the Door Open” won four Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Ellen congratulated him on the big win.
Bruno’s Upcoming Shows
Ellen revealed that she and TwItch went to Vegas to see the “Grenade” star’s show in Las Vegas. Bruno replied that “we are gonna have nine more shows in August so get your tickets because this is gonna be so much fun.”
Silk Sonic is performing in Las Vegas, and not just once, but nine times! Silk Sonic will be performing at Dolby Live, Las Vegas on August 3, 5, 6, 10, 12, 13, 16, 18 and 19. FYI, Bruno hasn’t appeared in the press for years, so Ellen is definitely a great host to have convinced Bruno Mars to grace her show once more. Well, it’s like a second home for him.
Ellen and tWItch in “Leave the Door Open”
Ellen played a video, that she called an “original video” of Silk Sonic’s multiple Grammy-winning song “Leave the Door Open”. In the video, Ellen and tWITCH were seen singing and dancing along with Silk Sonic. Ellen jokingly asked Bruno why he cut them out from the video.
Burno replied, “I made a mistake, I should have kept that in. I should have kept that in.” She then revealed that Bruno’s version of “Uptown” when he was on Ellen’s show in 2015 was a major success. The video has around 75 million views. Both wished that to happen again.
Bruno’s Silk Sonic
In 2017, Anderson .Paak was the opening act for Bruno Mars on the European leg of the 24K Magic World Tour. In April, Mars and .Paak worked together at Abbey Road Studios in London with Nile Rodgers and Guy Lawrence for Chic’s album It’s About Time, and worked on music while on a tour that appeared on Paak’s album Ventura.
The duo was formed in 2017 by Mars and . Paak “as a joke the two friends hatched on the road”. On February 26, 2021, Mars announced that he and .Paak had formed a band, saying, “[Silk Sonic] locked in and made an album.” In a press release, they said Bootsy Collins named the band after he heard the album.
“Leave the Door Open”, the band’s debut album’s lead single, was released on March 5, along with the intro song, hosted by Collins. The band won four Grammy awards this year with its debut. Isn’t that thrilling, eh?
