Blue Exorcist returns for the third season as official confirmation came that the anime is in production. The announcement of Blue Exorcist Season 3 was officially made during an anime panel at Jump Festa 2023. The panel also shared a new official website to launch a teaser trailer with a new visual.
Blue Exorcist was a major hit when it was first aired from April to October 2011 under the production of A-1 Pictures. The first season was directed by Tensai Okumaru.
Following the series’ popularity, Blue Exorcist: The Movie came out in December 2012. But after that, no news of the anime’s continuation came out until 2017.
A second season was released in 2017, which covered Kyoto Saga in 12 episodes. This time, the 2nd season also came under the same studio. But it disappointed the fans for having only 12 episodes, as the fans wanted more of the anime.
When to Expect the Blue Exorcist Season 3?
Season 3 in production has just been officially announced, but no dates have come out yet. Even, no staff has not yet been confirmed. But fans can expect the voice actors of the previous two seasons will remain the same.
What to expect from Blue Exorcist Season 3?
The Blue Exorcist follows the story of Kazue Katō’s manga Ao no Exorcist. The story revolves around two half-human and half-devil brothers, Rin and Yukio Okumura.
The story mostly focuses on Rin as he wields the power of his father’s blue flame. His father is none other than the notorious demon lord Satan, king of the demonic realm of Gehenna.
For his Blue flames, Rin faces a lot of discrimination. On the other hand, Yukio has too many complexes and does not wield any of his father’s powers.
Rin vowed to avenge his foster father’s death when he was killed because of his evil real father. To become strong to defeat the devils, Rin attends True Cross Academy under Yukio’s surveillance. Rin decides to become an exorcist and join the Knights of the True Cross to defeat the devils with his new-found friends.
The Blue Exorcist Season 3 will primarily feature the Blue Exorcist Illuminati arc from the manga. Even though there is no official confirmation, season 3 may come in 2 parts. The pace and the length of the story of the manga support that claims.
In the manga, the Illuminati arc features an evil group called the Illuminati. They will be involved in a lot of suspicious activities. But their primary goal is to resurrect Satan. The King of Light and the strongest among the demons, Lucifer is the leader of the group.
Where will season 3 be released?
Just like the previous two seasons, the 3rd season will probably be available on Crunchyroll. But no official confirmation has come out yet.
After getting launched in 2009, the manga was on a hiatus from July 2021 to May 2022. The manga has more than 25 million copies in circulation worldwide.
For the past few years, rumors were suggesting that the series may have a complete reboot. But renewing the third season has given the fans a sigh of relief.
