Get ready to return to the dystopian world! After a long wait of four years, Black Mirror is finally coming back with its new season. Netflix has released a trailer for the sixth season of the anthology series and also unveiled the premiere date.
The new season is being touted as the ‘most unpredictable, unclassifiable and unexpected’ so far, where each episode has been given a cinematic treatment as a film. The streaming platform has also announced the star cast for the new season.
Black Mirror Season 6 Release Date Announced with Teaser Trailer
The teaser shows a glimpse of the dystopian stories that will form the season. The clip has all the elements the show is known for: thrills, sci-fi tech, violence, and dark themes. ‘You’ve been wondering. You’ve been warned,’ reads the message over the teaser.
The new season will premiere on Netflix in June this year. The exact release date will be revealed soon by the streaming platform. “I can’t wait for people to binge their way through it all and hope they enjoy it — especially the bits they shouldn’t,” said series creator Charlie Brooker. The Upcoming Season is Being Called the Most Unexpected One Yet
Announcing the season, Netflix said that every episode of the new season will have something that the viewers would not have expected. Talking about the season, Brooker said, “I’ve always felt that Black Mirror should feature stories that are entirely distinct from one another, and keep surprising people — and myself — or else what’s the point?”
“It should be a series that can’t be easily defined and can keep reinventing itself. Partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect.”
“Consequently, this time, alongside some of the more familiar Black Mirror tropes we’ve also got a few new elements, including some I’ve previously sworn blind the show would never do, to stretch the parameters of what ‘a Black Mirror episode’ even is,” the creator added.
Netflix Revealed the Star Cast for the Season
Black Mirror season 6 will feature some well-known faces, including Salma Hayek Pinault, Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul, Schitt’s Creek star Annie Murphy, Call Jane star Kate Mara, Penny Dreadful actor Josh Hartnett, Joker actor Zazie Beetz, We Are Lady Parts actor Anjana Vasan, and I May Destroy You actor Paapa Essiedu.
The cast also includes Samuel Blenkin, Auden Thornton, Ben Barnes, John Hannah, Michael Cera, Clara Rugaard, Rory Culkin, Daniel Portman, Monica Dolan, Myha’la Herrold, Danny Ramirez, Himesh Patel, and Rob Delaney.
“Bringing it all to life we’ve got an incredible roster of disgustingly skillful, smart directors working with a cast of actors so talented they frankly have no right to exist,” Brooker said announcing the cast. Jessica Rhoades, Annabel Jones, and Bisha K. have served as executive producers on the new season, along with Brooker. The show is produced by the production company Broke & Bones.
