Bella Hadid is known to use her voice for good. In the past, she has talked about Palestine and promoted other causes. This time, she is speaking up for Pakistan, which is seeing one of the worse floods with over one-third of the country submerged in water.
She posted a bunch of pictures on her Instagram to raise awareness and gather funds for those in need in Pakistan.
Bella Hadid Speaks Up For Pakistan
She started the post by saying that “This doesn’t even seem real, but is a reality to so many.” Giving some context to the gravity of the situation, Bella Hadid mentioned that “a third of them children — have died during severe flooding across Pakistan.
She continued with “From June through August, 2022, torrential monsoon rains washed away entire villages and infrastructure across Pakistan’s four provinces, affecting at least 33 million people.”
Hadid also mentioned that “4 million acres of crops have been destroyed and 800,000 livestock have died. Not only is this traumatizing for the people of Pakistan but it will also long-term, increase food insecurity across the country and will have a severe impact on the economy…”
Bella Hadid also shared IRC Pakistan’s country director Shabnam Baloch, who said “Despite producing less than 1% of the world’s carbon footprint, the country is suffering the consequences of the world’s inaction.”
The model went on to encourage her followers to donate to UNICEF, and said that “UNICEF is on the ground, delivering lifesaving medical supplies, safe water and nutrition, mental health support, educational resources and more.”
She concluded the message by saying that if it was not possible for people to donate then “spreading the word on this environmental crisis and the people impacted is very important as well. Love you all and God Bless. 🤍”
A lot of people in the comment section thanked her for using her platform to spread good and to help others in need. A few also seemed to point out that her sister’s ex Zayn Malik’s parents are from Pakistan.
Other Times Bella Hadid Spoke Up
This is not the first time that Bella Hadid has spoken up about issues. She has openly spoken up for the freedom of Palestine and even took part in solidarity marches. She also alleged that Instagram “shadow-bans” her posts whenever she shares anything about Palestine.
The Vogue model has also opened up about mental illnesses and her ongoing struggle with mental health. In a Vogue interview, she opened up about her struggles and said “For three years while I was working, I would wake up every morning hysterical, in tears, alone.”
Symptoms like brain fog, exhaustion, anxiety, and others began way earlier when she was in class 8th. She said that having Lyme disease might have been the reason behind that.
Hadid also went on to talk about how she was labeled as the “ugly” sister and was compared with her sister Gigi Hadid at every possible step.
That is not to say that she is not grateful for her life or career. Bella Hadid is a self-made model and she is happy with where it has gotten her. She said that “Now everything that I do in my personal life is literally to make sure that my mental state stays above water.”
Educating yourself on what is happening around the world or speaking up about it can take a toll on mental health. But Bella Hadid manages that and continues to raise her voice for the causes she believes in.
