Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2, starring Jenna Ortega and Michael Keaton is around the corner. Warner Bors has officially set a release date for the upcoming installment of the spooky franchise. Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice 2 Release Date Is Out!

Warner Bros has officially announced the release date for Beetlejuice 2, which will be hitting theatres on September 6, 2024. While Burton and his spooky crew have announced two cast members, Michael Keaton (returning as Betelgeuse) and Jenna Ortega (playing the daughter of Winona Ryder from the first film), not much is known about the plot of the upcoming film.

However, it is reported that Winona Ryder and Justin may return while Justin Theroux just joined the ensemble cast. As the film is still in pre-production, the trailer isn’t out yet. Some principal photography will be available after the post-production begins.

If you remember, years ago, Tim Burton said he had been collaborating with Michael Keaton on the project, saying, “There’s only one Beetlejuice, and that’s Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever… I miss that character. There’s something that’s cathartic and amazing about it. I think it’s closer than ever.”

The 1988 “Beetlejuice” A Comedy Classic

The first Beetlejuice film was released more than three decades ago. Michael Keaton played the titular character while Winona Ryder played Lydia Deetz. Alec Baldwin starred as Adam Maitland and Geena Davis starred as Barbara Maitland.

The plot of the original1988 film revolved around a deceased couple who, as “ghosts haunt their former home, contact Beetlejuice, an obnoxious and devious “bio-exorcist” from the Netherworld, to scare away the house’s new inhabitants.” The movie was applauded for its spooky and creepy visuals and is remembered as a comedy classic.

The movie grossed over $74.7 million from a budget of US$15 million, winning an Academy Award for Best Makeup and several other accolades. The film’s success led to an animated series, video games, and a stage musical. While not much is known about the upcoming sequel, we can tell that it will continue Lydia Deetz’s daughter’s story.
