The third time charm really worked for Virginia-based Raggae band SOJA. American reggae band SOJ walked home with GRAMMY on Sunday with the “Best Reggae Album” for their album “Beauty in the Silence”.
The big win marks the first time winning of the all-white Reggae band in the history of the Reggae category at the GRAMMYs.
With four nominees in the running including one popular song album by Sean Paul, a victory has been marked by the whole white reggae band SOJA.

American band SOJA wins Grammy Award For ‘Best Reggae Album’
The musical night of the 64th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
With the end number of phenomenal nominations and appearances of our favourite artists and musicians, it was surely a phenomenal time to look forward to the big wins of artists and celebrate the magical night.
Talking about the magical night, SOJA has had one at the 2022 GRAMMY. The Band has won the Best Reggae Album for their Beauty in the Silence album.
The band finally went home with their big win after being nominated twice including their “Live in Virginia” project from 2017 and “Amid the Noise and Haste” album from 2015.
“Beauty in Silence” was released in 2021 September created a noise right after its arrival marking itself at second place on the Billboard Reggae album chart.
The other nominees in the category included Positive Vibration from Gramps Morgan’s, Royal by Jesse Royal, 10 by Spices, Live N Livin from Sean Paul and Pamoja by Etana.
SOJA’s Speech After Receiving The Best Reggae Album
SOJA spoke on the red carpet after grabbing the huge win. The band started their speech with special gratitude to Jamaica, the homeland of Reggae.
They thanked their influence and inspirations growing up. They expressed the journey of starting out as a reggae band and eventually dedicating their life to the genre of reggae.
The lead singer of the band, Jacob Hemphill thanked the pioneers and the Jamaican artists who established the genre before them and made it reach communities.
The band also expressed that a few members are from D.C which is known as “Little Ethiopia”. A major emphasis on Music as a mission and not competition.

Established in 1997, SOJA is an award-winning band from Virginia that has been promoting its music for over 25 years.
The eight-member group has released a number of singles, albums and DVDs, including the live singles SOJA -Live in Hawaii and Live in Amsterdam. They’ve also released their third full-length album Born in Babylon.
They have received criticism for cultural appropriation for the past few decades including their latest win at the GRAMMYs 2022. People are having quite a hard time settling with the big news.
