Another celebrity is changing his name! Actor Jonah Hill has decided to legally change his name and has also filed a petition for the same in Los Angeles. For those who do not know, the actor’s real name is Jonah Hill Feldstein, and he has now chosen to drop his last name ‘Feldstein’.
Hill is the latest actor to join the league of celebrities who have legally changed their names. Earlier this month, Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul also decided to drop his last name ‘Sturtevant’. Read on to know more about Jonah Hill’s change of name.
Jonah Hill Files Petition to Legally Change his Name
As per the legal documents filed in an LA office, Jonah Hill wants to legally drop Feldstein from his name and make his middle name his official last name. The reason for the change in the petition reads, “Jonah Hill is Petitioner’s professional name. Petitioner wants to make his professional name his legal name.”
The actor has used ‘Jonah Hill’ as his stage name from the initial days of his career, and many fans did not even know about his real last name. Actors usually go the legal way to change their names to keep a common professional and official name.
Since they have to sign a lot of contracts to get new projects, the dissimilarity between the stage name and the official name leads to confusion sometimes. That is why they decide to go through a tedious paperwork-based process just to drop their last name officially.
Hill, 38, started his career with a small role in the 2004 independent black comedy I Heart Huckabees and has since worked in Knocked Up (2007), 21 Jump Street (2012), This Is the End (2013), and 22 Jump Street (2014). In each of the film credits, his name was mentioned as ‘Jonah Hill’.
Several Celebrities Have Changed Their Names Recently
Jonah Hill is not the first actor who has taken the legal route to change his name. By now, almost everyone is aware that Kanye West officially got his name changed to Ye last year. More recently, Aaron Paul dropped his last name ‘Sturtevant’ to keep a uniform professional and legal name.
Aaron’s wife Lauren also filed a petition to add ‘Paul’ as her last name. The couple renamed their newborn child Ryden Caspian Paul. He was earlier named Casper Emerson Paul.
Speaking of celebrity kids, Kathryn Hahn recently filed a petition to add her last name, ‘Hahn’ to her children’s names. Her son is now named Leonard Henry Hahn Sandler, and her daughter has the official name Mae Marie Hahn Sandler.
Earlier this year, Kylie Jenner announced that she and her partner Travis Scott no longer wish to name their son ‘Wolf’. Their son was initially named Wolf Jacques Webster, however, the couple has not revealed his new name yet.
“FYI OUR SONS NAME ISN’T WOLF ANYMORE. WE JUST REALLY DIDN’T FEEL LIKE IT WAS HIM. JUST WANTED TO SHARE BECAUSE I. KEEP SEEING WOLF EVERYWHERE,” the socialite announced on her social media.
