A.R. Rahman, India’s best-known musician and composer, has signed on to create an exclusive new song for the highly anticipated film “Love Sonia.” He will work together with recording artist Bishop Briggs on the new track, which is titled “I am More.”
“Love Sonia” is directed by fellow “Slumdog Millionaire” alum Tabrez Noorani, who was the line producer for the Oscar-winning film. In 2009, Rahman received both the Best Original Song and Best Original Score Oscars for his work on “Slumdog.”
This film also reunites Rahman with “Slumdog” star Freida Pinto, who is one of the stars of “Love Sonia.”
Deadline reports that Rahman and Briggs are currently the studio recording their song “I Am More.” The goal is to have it ready for release for the film’s release in India on September 14.
Based on real life events, it delves into the topics of human trafficking and prostitution. The film focuses on Sonia, a young girl who goes on a quest to find her sister and gets entrapped in a vicious global sex trade network. The movie had its world premiere at the London Indian Film Festival in June 2018 and was met with positive reviews.
In a statement, Rahman said that “Projects like these happen with a lot of good intention to propel positive changes in the society. It was a pleasure to work once again with Tabrez Noorani, this time as the director; Academy-nominated producer David Womark and the talented artist Bishop Briggs. I wish this project the very best!”
