SKKN By KIM: New Skincare Brand Launched by Kim Kardashian

American socialite, media personality, and businesswoman Kim Kardashian has made her entry once again into the beauty industry by launching a new skin-care line called “SKKN by KIM”.

She filed for trademark registration for SKKN by Kim more than a year ago. Kim Kardashian made the announcement on 1st June that her new skincare line is expected to hit the markets on 21st June through its direct-to-consumer website SKKNBYKIM.COM.

Earlier this year she winded up the business operations of KKW Fragrance and KKW Beauty.

Taking to her Twitter handle, Kim tweeted, “I’m excited to finally introduce to you SKKN BY KIM, a rejuvenating nine-product skincare ritual that I have developed from start to finish.”

Feeling privileged, she further wrote, “I’ve been so privileged to learn about skin and skincare over the years from the world’s top dermatologists and estheticians, and every bottle from my new line is filled with the knowledge I’ve accumulated along the way”.

The brand released a press statement stating that it was Kardashian’s passion to create a world-class skincare brand.

The idea to launch this new beauty line was born out of her dream to fill the gap between the world’s most renowned experts in the field of dermatology and common citizens looking out for high-performance skincare products.

The lineup of SKKN BY KIM product details

This new brand from Kim offers a varied collection of products which are expected to be priced between $43 – $95.

The SKKN BY KIM collection will be offering nine core products which include Cleanser ($43/$37 refill), Toner ($45/$38 refill), Exfoliator ($55/$47 refill), Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($90/$77 refill), Vitamin C8 Serum ($90/$77 refill), Face Cream ($85/$72 refill), Eye Cream ($75/$64 refill), Oil Drops ($95/$81 refill), and Night Oil ($95/$81 refill).

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star also updated the launch of her new beauty care brand on her Instagram handle by writing, “You will experience refillable packaging, and clean, science-backed ingredients designed to nourish all skin types, tones, and textures at all stages of maturity. I created this line so that everyone can feel confident in their skin, and I can’t wait to finally be able to share it with you!”

The brand further added that their product Vitamin C8 Serum will cure fine lines, pigmentations, and wrinkles while the Oil Drops containing Vitamin C will reduce the look of pores.

Kim’s battle with Psoriasis led to the creation of this new brand

The 41-year-old Entrepreneur of the Year award winner who launched several products from Skims shapewear to mobile games in her entrepreneurial journey has been waging a 15-year long public battle with psoriasis disease. She disclosed that her interest in the field of skincare innovations was inspired by her own journey.

SKKN is the latest skincare line launched by the celebrity following launches by leading female celebrities like Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Skin, Rihanna’s Fenty Skin, Jennifer Lopez’s JLo Beauty, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, Scarlett Johansson’s The Outset and Hailey Bieber’s forthcoming Rhode.

Other brands from men personalities like Pharrell’s brand Human race and John Legend’s A-Frame have also ventured into this growing industry.

Speculations behind the launch of the new brand

This year when she closed down the KKW beauty brand it was speculated by industry experts that because of her divorce from her husband Kanye West she wanted to drop W from the KKW beauty brand.

However, a source who is privy to the matter told WWD then that the rebranding exercise and dropping of the letter W from the brand are not co-related.
