Wives of Clarence Thomas

Thomas married his college love Kathy Grace Ambush in the year 1971. He shared one child, Jamal Adeen with her. Their marriage lasted for a decade and got separated in 1981. The couple filed for divorce in 1984.

After three years, Thomas married Virginia Lamp, a lobbyist and former aide of Republican Congressman Dick Armey.

Early Life & Education

Ginni was born in the year 1957 in Omaha, Nebraska. Her parents were Republicans. Ginni attended Westside High School in Omaha. Her dream was to be a Congressperson when she was in high school. She then enrolled in a woman’s college in Virginia and later got transferred to the University of Nebraska.

She completed her Bachelor of Arts from Creighton University in political science and business communication in 1979. She completed a Juris Doctor course from Creighton University School of Law in 1983.

Career

Ginni started her career with American lawyer and politician, Hal Daub. Post completion of her graduation she worked at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She then served for the U.S. Department of Labor and as an aide for Representative Dick Armey.

She joined The Heritage Foundation in the year 2000 where she was a White House liaison between the foundation and the then George W. Bush administration. Ginni then started Liberty Central in 2009. Liberty Central was a conservative political advocacy nonprofit organization associated with the Tea Party movement. In 2010, she became the founder of Liberty Consulting.

Support to Donald Trump

Ginni Thomas was vocal about her support to former US President Donald Trump during his presidency. She offered recommendations on individuals to hire through her work with the conservative Groundswell group to the Trump administration. Thomas also endorsed the Trump rally that preceded the 2021 controversial rally that stormed the U.S. Capitol.

She supported the rally before the violence took place, however she later apologized for creating a rift among Clarence Thomas’s former Supreme Court clerks. Her deeds as the spouse of a Supreme Court justice and her political affiliation have been skeptical and caused controversies as well.

Her husband Clarence Thomas is a conservative activist, with a close relationship to organizations that support various causes. However, it is unusual and very rare for the spouse of justice to participate actively in partisan politics.

Ginni changed her faith from Protestantism to the Catholic faith two decades ago in 2002. She got the inspiration from her husband’s devotion to praying the Litany of Humility. She also credits Justice Antonin Scalia, and his wife Maureen, for their unconditional love and getting her husband back into the Church.
