Linda Yaccarino has been announced as the new CEO of Twitter. On May 11th, Elon Musk revealed that he has chosen an executive to lead the social media platform that he bought in October last year. A day later, the name of the new CEO was confirmed.
Yaccarino is the former head of advertising at NBCUniversal, who left the company just hours before being announced as the new Twitter CEO. She has been in the industry for over three days. Now that Yaccarino is about to start a new and important role in her career, we take a look at her net worth and earnings so far.
Linda Yaccarino Net Worth
Multiple reports claim that Linda Yaccarino has a net worth of around $32 million in May 2023. However, some sources quote the value to be around $10 million only. In any case, Yaccarino’s wealth would lie between $10 million to $32 million. She was reportedly making $4 million every year as the advertising executive for NBC Universal.
Yaccarino is a graduate of Penn State. She started her career in 1992 with Turner Entertainment, where she eventually became the Executive Vice President and COO of Advertising Sales, Marketing, and Acquisitions.
Career with NBCUniversal
Yaccarino left Turner Entertainment in November 2011 to join NBCUniversal as the President, Cable Entertainment & Digital Advertising Sales. The following year, she was promoted to Chairman of Advertising & Client Partnerships. In October 2020, she was made the Chairman of Global Advertising and Partnerships.
During her time at NBCUniversal, Yaccarino managed a team of about 2000 employees and generated over $100 billion in ad sales. She also played an important role in the launch of Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, and partnered with Apple News, YouTube, Snapchat, and Twitter for advertising.
Yaccarino is a member of the media, entertainment, and culture industry governors’ steering committee at the World Economic Forum. She is also the chairman of WEF’s task force on the future of work.
The executive has previously partnered with government agencies as well. She became a member of the President’s Council on Sports Fitness and Nutrition during Donald Trump’s presidency. She was also chosen as the head of Ad Council, a nonprofit advertising group.
Appointment as Twitter CEO
On May 12th, Elon Musk tweeted that Yaccarino will be taking over as the new CEO of Twitter, and its parent company X. She would be looking over business operations, while Musk himself will continue as executive chair and CTO, and will look after product design and technology.
“I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app,” Musk wrote.

Yaccarino is joining Twitter at a time when the platform is struggling to keep its user base and maintain profits, owing to the changes in policies introduced after the takeover by Musk. Experts say that the executive’s experience in advertising could help Twitter increase its profits again.
“If Twitter are looking to monetize better than they have been, then that would be the place to start and Linda would be the ideal person to make that happen. She’s the kind of person that I can imagine Elon Musk needs. She won’t be rolled over,” said Business Insider’s Claire Atkinson.
