Why did Kathy Griffin’s Twitter account get suspended?

For those of you who are unversed, let us tell you, Twitter has permanently suspended the account of the comedian Kathy Griffin for “engaging in impersonation” after she changed her display username to Elon Musk. Soon after, she asked her Twitter followers to support Democratic candidates in the US midterm election.

A screenshot of Kathy Griffin’s tweet has gone viral on the social networking platform Twitter.  The tweet reads, “After much-spirited discussion with the females in my life. I have decided that voting blue for their choice is only right.” When we talk about the hashtag, she wrote – “Vote Blue To Protect Women.”

The suspension of Kathy Griffin’s Twitter account has caused quite a stir on social media. Many people have come forward and accused Elon Musk of cracking down on free speech. While responding to a post on Twitter, the Tesla CEO and new boss of Twitter said,  “Actually, she was suspended for impersonating a comedian.”

In a separate tweet, Musk stated that comedian Kathy Griffin can get her Twitter account back if she pays $8 (the blue tick fee). In a follow-up tweet, Elon wrote, “But if she really wants her account back, she can have it for $8.”

Elon Musk issued a warning to all Twitter users ‘engaging in impersonation’

Elon Musk also issued a statement in which he warned all Twitter users “engaging in impersonation.” He tweeted, “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended.”

In another tweet, the Tesla CEO also went on to say, “Previously, we issued a warning before the suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning.
