Daytime Talk Show ‘Dr. Phil’ to End After 21 Seasons

Dr. Phil is coming to an end after a total of 21 seasons! According to a report by Variety, the CBS series which saw the light of day in September 2002, will wrap after its current 2022-23 season, its 21st.

‘Dr. Phil’ is ending this Spring after 21 seasons

The talk show Dr. Phil is set to bid adieu to all its fans! The long-running daytime talk show, Dr. Phil hosted by Dr. Phil McGraw, will come to an end after 21 seasons. This news was recently confirmed by McGraw.

In a statement issued to Variety on January 31, 2023, Tuesday, Dr. Phil spoke about his time on the television show and said, “I have been blessed with over 25 wonderful years in daytime television.”

McGraw went on to say, “With this show, we have helped thousands of guests and millions of viewers through everything from addiction and marriage to mental wellness and raising children. This has been an incredible chapter of my life and career, but while I’m moving on from daytime, there is so much more I wish to do.”

What is the show ‘Dr. Phil’ all about?

For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, Dr. Phil is a talk show hosted by Dr. Phillip C. McGraw. In the chat show, he uses his 25 years of experience in psychology, sociology, and observation to provide good pieces of advice.

The talk show Dr. Phil was created by Oprah Winfrey after McGraw’s segments on The Oprah Winfrey Show. The show Dr. Phil premiered on September 16, 2002. Before he got his own talk show, Phil made guest appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Dr. Phil McGraw, popularly known as Dr. Phil is an American television personality and author who is best known for hosting the talk show Dr. Phil. He shot to fame with appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show in the late 1990s. Then, Oprah helped him to launch his own program, Dr. Phil, in September 2002.

In a statement to Variety, Steve LoCascio, president of CBS Media Ventures, talked about McGraw’s decision and said, “Phil is a valued partner and member of the CBS/King World family, and while his show may be ending after 21 years, I’m happy to say our relationship is not.”

LoCascio went on to say, “Phil changed the daytime landscape as the force behind one of the most popular talk shows ever on daytime TV. We plan to be in the Dr. Phil business with the library for years to come and welcome opportunities to work together in the future.”
