Throughout his illustrious career which spanned over four decades, Paul was a part of many movies and TV shows. He shot to fame for his performances as Pee-wee Herman. The popular character was also seen on shows like The Pee-wee Herman Show, Cheech & Chong’s Next Movie, and Nice Dreams.

Reubens also starred in movies such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Matilda, and Mystery Men. In addition to this, he appeared in television shows like The Conners, American Dad! and Gotham. He voiced the character of Pavel in the science fiction series Tron: Uprising. He also voiced different characters in video games like Wilson’s Heart and Minecraft: Story Mode.

The caption of the Instagram post read, “Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer, and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy and belief in the importance of kindness.”

It further read, “Paul bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit. A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend and man of remarkable character and generosity of spirit.”
