Redfall Release Date, Platforms, Gameplay, Trailer, and More

Redfall is an upcoming much-awaited co-op FPP shooter by Bethesda Games. It was announced at the Xbox Bethesda Showcase E3 2021 and is currently being developed by Arkane Studios. Check out everything we know about Redfall here, including the release date, gameplay, story, characters, trailer, and more.

When the earliest leaks appeared, Redfall was mistaken to be The Elder Scroll 6‘s subtitle due to its Daggerfall location and the Redguard race. However, the rumors turned out to be a hoax when Bethesda officially unveiled Redfall.

Now, the upcoming vampire co-op is under development and has recently been delayed. Players are eagerly waiting for the game alongside the space adventure-based Starfield. All eyes are set on the Xbox and Bethesda showcase for now in the hopes of positive news.

What is the Release Date of Redfall?

Redfall was initially set to launch in the Summer of 2022. However, Bethesda recently announced that it has been delayed to the first half of 2023. “The teams at Arkane Austin (Redfall) and Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) have incredible ambitions for their games, and we want to ensure that you receive the best, most polished versions of them,” said the publisher.

For now, we don’t have a specific release date for Redfall yet. We only know it’s coming sometime during the first six months of the next year. Bethesda may unveil a specific release date during the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda showcase.

Still, release dates don’t matter much when Bethesda is the publisher. We have noticed this recently as Deathloop launched in September 2021 after being announced for late 2020, and Ghostwire: Tokyo launched in March 2022 but the initial launch was set for October 2021.

Redfall Platforms: Will it come to PlayStation 5?

Redfall is going to launch exclusively for the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. It’ll also have a Day One launch on the Xbox Game Pass. If you have the subscription, you’ll be able to enjoy the vampire co-op for free upon launch.

Unfortunately, Redfall will not be available on Sony’s latest console, PlayStation 5. Microsoft purchased ZeniMax, Bethesda’s parent company, in 2020, and Arkane is wholly owned by Bethesda. Thus, the title will be exclusive to Microsoft’s consoles and PC.

Redfall Trailer and Gameplay Details

Redfall currently only has one trailer available that the publisher revealed alongside the announcement at Xbox Bethesda showcase E3 2021.

We expect to have another one during the upcoming Xbox Bethesda showcase. Let’s hope we get to see actual gameplay footage of the game.

For now, the available cinematic trailer shows the four playable characters hanging around an abandoned convenience store as the clip then switches to an intense battle the group has survived on the same street.

They are carrying guns and various powers and abilities to fight a group of masked humans followed by a swarm of dreadful vampires, the primary residents of Redfall.

There isn’t much known about the gameplay yet. We know that Redfall is going to be a first-person shooter set in an open-world Massachusetts. Players will be fighting Coven, the group of vampires, that has overtaken the small town.

According to the recent leaks, Redfall will have customizable load-outs, special abilities, level requirements, and plenty of loot. Players will also be able to modify their stats in some way. However, we can’t confirm it yet.

Redfall will likely have an enticing Story

The story of Redfall takes place in the island town of Redfall, Massachusetts. Vampires have currently taken over the town. However, they aren’t ancient beings but the result of a failed scientific experiment, just like Left 4 Dead.

The story revolves around a group of explorers who are currently fighting against another group of masked men followed by vampires. The story will likely feature plenty of twists and should be an enticing part of the game.

The setting of the town will be in the open-world concept. Players will be able to interact with their surroundings and make use of anything they could find. The environment will keep changing continuously as you explore more.

We know about the Characters in Redfall

As confirmed by the announcement trailer and website, Redfall will feature not one but four playable characters. Each of them has a different backstory and a specific set of character skills. Take a look at them:

Layla Ellison: She has a degree in biomedical engineering from Redfall Technical University and has worked at a local research organization named Aevum Therapeutics. She translucently remembers some horrible occurrence at the facility and she woke up with powerful telekinetic abilities.

Layla Ellison

Devinder Crousley: He is a professional influencer specializing in cryptozoology and investigating paranormal stuff. He arrived at Redfall with the purpose to document the events occurring here. Dev is also an inventor who crafts weapons and uses them to fight.

Remi de la Rosa: She is a combat engineer and special rescue operative in the US Navy. She has built herself a robot companion named Bribón to fight by her side. Remi is apparently a genius trying to save Redfall’s survivors.

Remi de la Rosa

Jacob Boyer: He is an ex-military sharpshooter present in Redfall as part of an elite private security force. The strange events in the town left Jacob with a mysterious vampiric eye and a spectral raven that’s always flying around his shoulder.

Will Redfall have cross-platform multiplayer?

Redfall features co-op multiplayer with up to three other players. There are four playable characters in the game. You can choose one while your friends can choose from the other three options. Together, your group can encounter an intense vampiric attack.

However, it’s unknown if Redfall will have crossplay between Xbox and PC players. I find it highly unlikely to happen. Bethesda may keep the players separate and may only allow multiplayer for the same platforms.

The official website states Redall will have multiplayer and single-player options to blend seamlessly. That’s a piece of good news for the fans.

Stay tuned to find more information about Redfall in the coming days. We are expecting a flurry of announcements during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase on June 12/14.
